Here we all are about to leap into mid-summer already! Tempus fugit.
It's been rainy and quite humid here and we've only put on the AC to keep the moisture down inside. It's not at all hot out there. Happy trees and grass, though. Yesterday was the big finale of Pride Week in town so today the streets should be back to normal. We had over a million visitors in Toronto for that thing. I'll see if I can find some pics and post them.
I've got mother duty this afternoon, so I'm not looking forward to that. It's become as hard as looking after a very young child, comprehension-wise, and at least little ones don't have decades of habits and egos behind their behaviours. I know it's a blessing that I still have both of my parents but if I could change one single thing, it would be to have a sibling to share these responsibilities. *sigh*
Good Monday morning! I just finished playing 20 games of tennis. Instead of the regular sets, we play whoever get to 10 first with two games to win. We won 11 - 9. Now I have to get home to get ready for work at the lake all day.
So poor little Gracie has a horrible diaper rash. Desitin isn't cutting it and we are taking her to the doctor's tomorrow. Any one have any recommendations for her for the mean time.
Other then that nothing is going on. Vinnie leaves for San Diego tomorrow. So I will be on my own for 5 days. Which normally is like a vacation for me but I am a little fearful with these kids.
Kae try not to get too frustrated with the parents today. I know its hard.
Our d-i-l got a prescription from the doc that did really well for the diaper rashes. I don't know what it was, Shelly, but I'm sure you'll get a good cream that will give little Gracie some peace, poor baby.
I'm back now from that expedition, tired and wet. The sky opened up just as were getting into the car. Crazy weather. It never fails that the days I'm obliged to be out and about, the weather never co-operates, and the days I'm stuck home, it's gorgeous.
Sundancer, I wanted to collapse just reading about your tennis, but it also sounds like so much fun. It's been many many years since I played tennis, and it's a great game.
Shelly, have you tried neosporin on poor little Gracie? It so sad to see a rash when you know you've addressed the diaper issue. I remember that our oldest had a rash that looked like a ripe tomato, and I couldn't figure out how or why it was suddenly so horrible! I wish I could remember what we did to make it better but, unfortunately, that's been nearly 26 years ago.
KaeEll, I hope your mother duty went alright. I agree with you about the sibling issue. If my sister and I hadn't had each other, I don't know how either one of us would have gotten through some of the things that were thrown our direction.
Jim and I both slept badly last night. I was wide awake at 4:30 a.m., having had a FABULOUS night's sleep the night before, and Jim was about the same. He had some physical therapy at 7:15 a.m., then came home to shower and change for work. Tomorrow, he'll have another epidural, and more therapy. I think that we'll probably go to bed very soon, and that's a little pathetic since it's barely after 8:00 pm right now!

Remember that car accident from October that my wife got into? Yep. Insurance low balled her claim so we're going to court (settlement conference first, etc). Needless to say, they really should have taken our offer as it's 25 percent of what these things end up costing them in court. But I guess we play the patience game and go from there.

Well the doctor gave her an anti-biotic, the rash looks more like a yeast thing because the red is only in like 3 different spots. And he gave me some powder that is suppose to be magical. I remember when Jolene was a baby the doctor gave us this cream that was like a vaseline base but was seriously magical. We tried several times over our moves to find a pharmacy and a doctor who knew of it but no one has. And of course tricare really restricts us from going back to that doctor. After 4+ years no telling if he is still there anyways. So hopefully this powder works fast. Kae I have never heard of that stuff before. We have used desitin and some stuff called butt paste. Both seem to have the same main ingredient which is zinc oxide or something like that. I haven't tried neosporin although with the way my daughter has been playing this summer I may have to invest in some of that neo to go stuff. She plays rough.
Brandon what a mess. I truly think that insurance companies are about the worst thing ever. How is your wife, all mended up right?
Brandon, we should summon up Jojo, She works as an adjuster and might have some words of wisdom for you.
Good luck in court. What a shame to have to waste energy on that.
Shelly, Butt Paste? What a horrible name for a baby's behind lotion. Sheesh.
It's a major holiday here today, Canada Day, celebrating our country's 142nd birthday. Unfortunately because the city workers are on strike (including garbage collection except in Etobicoke, my little borough, where we have a private company collect the bins) all public celebrations have been cancelled. So no fireworks tonight and no rib feast at the park. We're going to stay home and quiet.
Brandon, I'm SO sorry to hear that you and your wife have to go through this stressful process. KaeEll is right -- ask JoJo for some advice. I'm sure that she may have some insights.
I'm glad that you're standing up for yourselves, though. Often these companies hope that the injured party will back down because it's either too much trouble to fight it, or too expensive. Go get 'em!!

I play tennis four mornings a week (Mon thru Thurs) during the summer at 7:45. Yesterday and today it was raining, so we couldn't play. I did go square dancing yesterday evening. I hope to go swing dancing Friday evening after work.
