Still in pain...

Okay, this is my sixth day on antibiotics, and I'm still in pain. Not the kind of pain I was in on Friday and Saturday, but it's there, and it's wearing me down. I'm so tired, and am feeling weak.

I've been ordered to have a CT scan this afternoon at 5:00 pm, and of course my head is going to all of the bad places because my doctors put it in as a "STAT" order. There are only so many reasons why people have ongoing abdominal pain, and if the antibiotics aren't working on what we thought my problem was originally, then that leaves some bad possibilities.

Jim has already told me to stop it with that kind of thinking, and if I weren't so tired, and still in pain, I probably wouldn't be so worried.

I'll keep you guys posted.

Brandon, I started feeling unwell last Friday, and was pretty sure that I was having an attack of diverticulitis because it felt similar to what I'd gone through about two years ago. Not pleasant.

My doctor's partner was kind enough to open up his office on Saturday, July 4th, not just for me, but for several patients who had called in. After examining me, he put me on antibiotics. I began to feel better after about a day or so, but then no further improvement. I'd been cautioned to let them know if I didn't improve, and I haven't.

I just finished drinking 36 freaking ounces of water for this thing; I've never had to do that before a CT before. I guess I'll have to stop about every three minutes, on the trip there. Jim said that I ought to just sit on the potty and drink it...

My head is going to all the wrong places. I'm scared that I'm having another blood clot; I lost a childhood friend to colon cancer in February, so of course I've visited that possibility; if it's an absess, that will require surgery, and that's more complicated with me because of my medical history; and then there's all the female stuff.

If I'm very very lucky, it'll turn out that this is just a really stubborn infection this time around, and I'll just need a second round of antibiotics.

Please keep the prayers going...

Moore, I am so sorry to hear that you are having such pain. Is this a constant pain, or is worse at some times? Is it on one side more than the other? I sure hope you feel better soon.

How did I miss this? Oh, Moore, of course my prayers and best thoughts are with you!

Pain and worry can do more damage than an affliction, so try to keep as calm and upbeat as possible. Many hugs and my very, very best wishes.

Please keep us posted.
