That's hysterical. I don't like the world right now, I'm going to hide my head underneath this bed right here. Unfortunately that reminds me a few people I know.

Glad that was amusing for you guys. :) We all need a chuckle from time to time.
I'm off in the rain to pick out my new glasses. I went to a new optometrist yesterday, old one is in Yorkville and that's a MAJOR shopping lure for me, so doing bank account a favour, I switched to a local gal just down the street. I liked her. She took pics of my retinas which was a tad creepy, but all is well. So here I go off in another bad hair day weather system (argh). I am permanently kinky-haired thanks to this stupid rainy stuff. Happy trees though.
Let us know how the new glasses work out. I need to get new ones myself. But I need a new exam. Did you guys know that your eye sight changes when you are pregnant?
I didn't know about eyesight changing during pregnancy! You learn something every day, non? I do know that eyesight changes with AGE though, lol.
I ordered my new specs, both reading and sunglasses, and got an awesome deal at less than $600 for the two. They'll be ready in 10 days. I had to be careful choosing though because I needed some that were large enough to accommodate the lenses, so no skinny little cutesy ones this time. Grrr.
Ted's off at the airport picking up his Ottawa boss and they're heading out to a warehouse west of here to check something out. After several phone calls between the two of them, he still hadn't asked which airport terminal he was to find him at, dumb guys. Then he's attending another retirement party at the Broadcast Centre, so I'm blissfully alone and car-less until about 7 tonight. This bit of him working from home with that blasted Blackberry gets a little tiresome for me. "Honey, what's for lunch?" "Hey, it's almost 4. Are you making the tea now?"
Another blood test later. Oh goody... The antibiotics screwed up my other meds, so we're trying to get me back on track.
Shelly, I had no idea that pregnancy had an effect on eyesight. I DID know that kids have an effect on the BRAIN, however, and on one's ability to concentrate! Permanently ruins the ability of those poor brain synapses to connect properly, for all time.
Okay, that's just my own personal theory, but I'm sure it's true...
KaeEll, I'm still on drugstore glasses, but probably ought to have an actual exam. At least, that's what Jim tells me, but I've ignored him so far. I found a great website a few years ago where you can buy six pairs for $24.00!! Because I seem to need different strengths for different tasks, I bought a whole variety, and have them scattered everywhere, to accommodate my different needs. Eyeglasses

Moore, it would be wonderful if I could use drugstore glasses but I have been seeing optometrists and the odd opthamologist (sp?) regularly since I was a kid, diagnosed with an astigmatism. I would LOVE to not need to use the damn things, but laser surgery wouldn't work for me, so I just have to suck it up.
It really is important to see an optometrist regularly because all kinds of things can be detected early on with the new retinal photography, stuff like diabetes, retinal detachment, macular problems, etc. Prescription glasses can now be designed to cover a multitude of tasks, from threading a needle, clipping fingernails, reading online, driving... One pair for all of it with the progressive lenses. They do cost a lot more than the over the counter ones but you can see so much better!! We used to have the cost of the exams covered by health care but that was cancelled in 2004 by the idiots in Queen's Park (provincial legislative seat).
I guess it doesn't change everytime you are pregnant but it is definitely a possibly side effect. Anyways, I have an astigmatism too. I need a new exam, and thankfully I found out that the walmart here takes Tri Care. It will be great to be able to get an exam at the same place I buy the glasses.
Jack is on Tri-Care, and we have to go off 2 hours to Rapid City, SD to see the opthamologist. There's a base there, so that's where all the docs on the plan are. Bummer.
Chloe is too cute. I sometimes wish I had the life of a poodle! LOL.
