Okay, so Arizona-daughter called yesterday to say that boyfriend Kyle (a HUGE sports fanatic) had called her from Chicago on Saturday, praising our daughter's efforts to become more knowledgeable about sports. Which she knows virtually nothing about. She was getting ready to meet a male friend, and a bunch of HIS friends, at a local restaurant when Kyle happened to call. She indulged Kyle's little pep talk with a lot of disinterested "uh-huhs", and promised that she'd keep on top of the sports thing, while he waxed poetic about the virtues of baseball. Then she left for the restaurant, with little thought wasted on sports.
She'd barely settled in at the restaurant when the guys became all excited about the fact that baseball star Manny Ramirez was sitting a few tables away. A-D thought "hmmm" to herself, then marched over to his table, and asked if he'd take a picture with her. (Remember the pictures she had taken with Kate Hudson, Bill Clinton, and Obama??) Surprisingly (he's said to be a bit of an asshole), Ramirez agreed, so our daughter sent the picture off to Kyle in a timely fashion, as proof that she was making a concerted effort to learn more about baseball. LOL!!
"Okay, Kyle, you wanted me to learn more about baseball. Here's a picture of me, twenty minutes later, with Manny Ramirez. Is this good??"
Manny use to play for the Red Sox now I believe plays for the Dodgers. But he is one of the idiots who got caught on drugs and I think he is out for the season. So stupid. I use to be so upset because he left Boston but if he is a Druggy then LA can have him.
But how awesome for your daughter. Manny is quite the superstar because he was part of the Red Sox when they finally broke their curse.
I thought it was hilarious, primarily because of the timing of the whole thing!
And Kyle couldn't believe that his girlfriend, who doesn't know a thing about baseball, got to have her picture taken with Ramirez, when he would have LOVED the chance! Of course, I'm betting that Kyle might not have been able to work quite the same charm on Manny Ramirez that A-D did, in order to accomplish the picture taking. LOL...
I'm telling you guys, Arizona-Daughter is one big, huge piece of work!

Kyle must be quite the catch for AD since she is going to the (for me) mind boggling trouble to learn about sports when she has never been particularly interested. On the other hand, Kyle is an extremely lucky chap to have such a witty and bright girlfriend, never mind so lovely to look at!
My advice to Kyle is that he had better be in a very appreciative frame of mind when dealing with your daughter, Moore. Sounds to me that he might be a touch out-matched.
