Monday, August 25

Good morning! The day started off with phones ringing at 8 o'clock as Ted's conference calls start as soon as most people pour their coffee. The Blackberry culture has taken over!! I assume most of these people are still at home too. I'm just not used to that level of energy so early in the day.

I'm having an early lunch today with d-i-l, her mother visiting from Boston and little Q. Vanessa is at all day camp for the next two weeks, so she can't join us. My treat as a thank you for d-i-l's mother bringing up here my Fabuloso, not available in Canada. I got hooked on the darn stuff a few years back and my friends that did lots of cross-border shopping kept me in good supply. But now that borders are so less friendly, their shopping sprees at the Target near Buffalo came to a full stop and so did my source of Fabuloso. I now have 2 big bottles of the cleaner, so YAY. (I am now officially a cheap date.)

Later on today there's a bunch of administrative things that are on the to-do list, so I might as well get that pain-in-the-neck stuff in order.

What's up with you all today?

Kae I wish I lived closer to you, we could swap Fabuloso for that Milk Thistle that you use. I still can't find any that isn't the disgusting nasty stuff. I am going to try and find it while I am down here in Virginia.

I am a little bored down here. My sister doesn't have cable on her tv. Although i can't complain. Last time I was down here she didn't have a computer. So this is an improvement.

Anyways, I still won't be on more then once a day but I wanted to pop in and say hello.

So guys I think Comcast is about to screw us ... even more ... again.

THe other day they got rid of my shift completely. We were a 24 hour call center and now we are open from 7a to 11p as of 9/27. We have 1 week to bid for our new shifts and my 11p to 7a shift is gone completely. I think this is a foreboding that we are going to be closing soon. I am trying to get on our direct sales team, which should help me out a bit because I don't think they will get rid of sales.

If they don't get rid of us completely, I think we might be bought out soon. I have no clue what is going on, but I am literally fed up because they have screwed us over big time, and now that the Chicago area call centers stats are crap, they are taking it out on us. Hoping that if we man the phones during the day it will fix their stats, but we are getting an ass reaming by the new call center manager here over stats. I've decided that I am going to be as nice as possible, but bluntly ask him tonight at our meeting how much longer we have until we can kiss our jobs good bye.

Jess, I have a friend that says if she didn't have bad luck, she wouldn't have any luck at all. Sounds like you and Comcast. I hope it turns out well for you one way or another. (Fingers crossed.)

Shelly!! So happy to hear from you. If you're looking for milk thistle that's palatable, look for the stuff in an apple cider or put it in some strong tasting juice. Just knock it back in one big gulp, follow up with some sweet juice.

Speaking of juice, I just learned that I'm highly allergic to mango!! Ted and I have been drinking some fruit nectars as a treat once a week and a couple of weeks ago I bought mango nectar. Big mistake. The rash is just beginning to settle down now. Since then I've learned of 3 other people allergic to mangos. Who'd a thunk it!

KaeEll, I think that my husband is one of those three on your list who's allergic to mango. His throat closes up, and he can't breathe, and it doesn't take much for that to happen. Very scary.

It's SO funny that you posted about the Fabuloso because I was JUST thinking about you and Fabuloso yesterday, when I was using some. For some reason, our previous internet conversation about the stuff popped into my head, and I wondered if you were still having difficulty keeping it in stock. Now you post that your DIL's mother is bringing you a new supply. Too funny!!

I hate Jim's Blackberry too, and I'm sure that Ted's Blackberry buddies were still at home when they began buzzing him. Sometimes Jim's BB has begun buzzing at 6:30 a.m., with "emergency" office issues. I wonder how these so-called emergencies were handled back before Blackberries and cell phones? Did the world blow up?? It makes me nuts... About a year ago, when Jim had that blood pressure surge, we all made him turn the BB off when he got home. I was afraid that he would fight us on it, but he didn't. I think he knew that the device was actually a major stress factor in his life. Unfortunately, it's morphed back into use again, and his blood pressure has also creeped up again, so I think that we need to do another intervention!! Keep an eye on Ted, KaeEll.

And enjoy your lunch!

Jess, I'm sorry about Comcast. That's really annoying, and also very stressful. We'll all keep our fingers crossed for you.

Shelly, are you going to be able to get a day or two at the beach? That would be nice for you AND the kids...

Yes, Moore. Jim is one of the three, the other two being little Q, and Christine's sister Bobby. And the odd thing is that since Christine's family is from India, they grew up eating mangos just as we all were raised on apples and bananas!! One day Booby bit into one and HER throat closed up too, just like Jim's. I have that blasted cortisone puffer thing I have to use twice a day so it didn't so much bother my throat but I got hives all over my arms and legs. I did have to use my puffer an extra time on the day after though. Crazy!

Lunch was really nice and afterwards we went together to the hardware store where I bought my father a great BIG toilet plunger. I'll spare you the details, lol. I had the quiche and salad again. At the restaurant, not at the hardware store.

AH, Fabulosos! I just love it. It makes the bathrooms shine and the house smells so much better. When Maria has finished for the day it always smells of Murphy's Soap and bleach so Fabuloso is so much more fun. Chris (d-i-l's mom) said when she comes back when new baby is born, she'll bring me more of it, enough to last me a year. And I believe her. She's a shopahilic and visits Target at least once a week. I must admit that the one thing I miss the most about living in the USA is Target. We had a house in SC for 10 years and I always made a beeline.

So now I have to make those phone calls and get on with chores.

PS for Shelly - we lost the 11 am and 3 pm Y&R today, the 25th, because the bloody cable company dropped the eastern provinces from the time shifts. I have to wait until the 4:30 airing now, the one from Toronto. If there is anything really good, shall let you know.

Oh man Kae!!! That is so not cool!

Yesterday I had my interview for direct sales. I am sooo excited. I think this is going to go well! My interview was great, they said my answers were fabulous. I will find out soon if I got recommended for the job or not. I have 3 people already in direct sales who are bugging the heck out of the manager to make sure I can get on.

I will automatically get 10000 more each year just from the salary, and the sales on top of that are amazing. If I hit my quota for the year my income should be just over 75000. The guy who interviewed me made 105000 last year. They are rally pushing the incentive income up because they need more reps.

Wish thanks for all the thoughts. I think they are working.
