The last day of September, Wednesday

Today started off so early for me, at 7:30, when our lawyer rang the doorbell - he forgot to have us sign some papers last week so he kindly stopped by on his way to his office. Ted had a 9 a.m. appointment that I drove him to while I ran to the grocery store, the bank, the bakery to pick up the cake for tonight's festivities, had coffee and a croissant with Christine (who lives really close to the bakery), then picked Ted up, came home, unloaded the groceries, and collapsed at my computer. Ted just left with the car for his office downtown. Nick and Evelyne are still asleep, I guess, since there's no sign of them yet.

Today at 4 everyone is gathering here for a 4X celebration. There are 2 birthdays, an anniversary and the arrival of Clarice to celebrate and today is the only day that worked for all of us. I can veg out for a little while before having to chain myself in the kitchen to make everything ready.

We learned last night that Nick and Evelyne plan on spending a month in Cancun, not just a week as I had thought. Must be nice to be able to work from anywhere as long as there are computers and internet available. I wish they had decided upon a safer destination - Canadian tourists keep getting murdered in Mexico. Nick said that's the reason it's become so cheap down to stay down there, lol. Ugh.

So what's been going on with you kids? We haven't just yippity-yapped in a couple of weeks.

First of all, CONGRATS on the new grandbaby!!! And it sounds like you are having quite a celebration tonight! Enjoy!

It's yucky outside today. They were saying we were supposed to have our first bout of snow this week, but they have since said that it likely won't come until maybe next week. Whew. Meanwhile, the nights are getting chillier, which is alright by me!

And holy soap news! I went to SOC today for the first time in like...ever, and read a whole boatload of news that just shocked me.
OLTL might be cancelled?
And I didn't know AMC was moving to LA. Or maybe I did and forgot. hehe.
I discovered from Shelly the other day GH had canned Greg Vaughn, but they are bringing back the original Lucky?!?
And Victoria Rowell twittered from the show parking lot that some former castmates wouldn't let her in the building, and are trying to block her return?
And they are writing out Victor and Nikki?

What the crap gives in soap world?!? Maybe I should tune back in, LOL.

Good heavens!! You really DID have a busy morning. I hope you knew that your lawyer was stopping by in advance because hearing the doorbell ring at that early hour could have been unnerving.

I've haven't been able to play much the past few days because I've had my hands full on the AMC board. It seems that everyone has suddenly decided to go INSANE lately, and I've nearly broken my fingers deleting posts, and I still have a bunch of emails to send out. So, in other words, I haven't had anything interesting to talk about! LOL...

I'm going to a doll workshop tomorrow (YAY), and hopefully today will be a bit quiet. Jim's going down to NC later this month, for a few days...

I can't believe that we're already into October! Love it...

It's been a little hectic around here this last few days. And yes, Moore, we were expecting Walter in the early morning, but he told us 8 o'clock, so he caught me still in my nightie and I threw on a dress fast!! The party was lots of fun, great food too. We had a honey glazed ham, scalloped potatoes, homemade baked beans, salads and a Black Forest cake.

Last night Nick and Evelyn hosted a "little" hockey night party here. At about 10 o'clock the den door flew open and in trotted a huge white dog. No announcements, nothing, until a few minutes later, when his master, Adam, a really old family friend of all the kids, arrived calling "Cassius, Cassius". It was Adam's dog, but you can imagine the reaction Chloe, Ted and I had before Adam appeared. Seems he opened the den door (we were watching TV in there) then remembered something in his car, so he left for a few minutes. Geez.

Then I fell asleep on the sofa (again) and woke up at 2:30 freezing, as someone had gone out back and left the sliders open. It was 6 degrees. Ugh.

This morning I had to drive Ted to an appointment at 9, took my mom to the usual , did the grocery shopping, picked up Ted, then my mother, drove her home and arrived back here around 3 to find Nick with a HUGE black eye. One of his "guests" got a little too rowdy, a scuffle ensued and Nick took a punch in the eye. The rowdy guest was upset at the hockey game results, I guess. Nick just went to the clinic and got it properly dressed. He and Evelyne leave in the morning on a 9:30 bus to Montreal. Peace and quiet again, I hope.

It's been wonderful having Nick back, but those party people can stay away the next time. A few of them, all old high school friends, are still in the puerile idiot mode, still live at home with moms and dads, drive daddy's big HMS vehicle, haven't a care in the world. Terrible parenting, if you ask me, although no one ever does. And there's my son, travelling to Montreal to meet the family of his lady love with a huge shiner and a swollen-shut eye. Nice. I know I'd not be too impressed. *sigh*

I was just thinking how quiet it has been around here. We really should try to get better at popping in more even if it is just to say Hello, I am alive. I know from facebook how most of you are doing, but its still nice to check in here.

This weekend has been good, Vinnie has been working so that isn't fun. We are currently looking at houses in Virginia. I really want to buy while we are down there. Hopefully we will be able to get a good loan.
