With Nick and Victoria there and Adam tossed out of the hospital room by Nick and Victoria, Victor goes into defib or something and the nurse says "I am so sorry". I assume he's dead. Victoria goes into a weepy blob and Nick, angry as hell that his father insisted just before he died that Adam be given a second chance, storms out of the hospital room to confront Adam.
As much as I like the characters of Chloe, Chance, Billy and Mac, there was a ridiculous bit with all four of them at the Abbott cabin and none agreeing to leave to give the other couple privacy. It annoyed me.
Next:
The police come looking for Danny Romalotti at CL. Michael asks what's going on and Daniel says he told Kevin to call the cops.
Deacon tells Amber that he is working for someone that is like the sword of Damocles over his head. Amber looks like she is buying his story. (I think she is still working on both sides here, still lying to Daniel and Deacon about her real loyalties. I think.)
Adam asks Nick what he has decided to give him other than the shaft. Janitor, mail room..? Victoria is on her phone.
I am surprised they killed him off...I had heard they would send him and Nikki off to Switzerland or something...But I am kind of happy they aren't making her go just because they didn't want to keep EB. Now please tell me we can be rid of Adam now.
Shelly, apparently EB's last air date is to be November 2, so that "death" yesterday wasn't in fact the end of him. Cheap tricks, non? Also, quite disappointing. My love for this soap has really gone down the tubes.
Adam is supposed to stick around BIG time, taking over the huge hole left by EB's departure. I've been reading all sorts of interviews and articles on the internet about this and there does seem to be a general consensus about it. I so wish that the original Adam were still around. This new guy just doesn't do it for me. What a lucky break he caught because of Chris Engen's scruples!!!
I wonder if they will figure out their mistake when they drop from number 1 soap for the first time in over 10 years...Because I think that is where they are headed.
I agree about Chris Engen. He was way better...shame too because the gay storyline was only like a day or two.
Oh, I forgot to tell you about an interview I heard on the radio (680 AM, Toronto) that I'm sure was syndicated, but anyway it was with Jerry Douglas. Jerry went on to say (I got the distinct impression that he didn't much care for Eric Braeden) that Eric was making a BIG mistake walking away from Y&R. He said it WAS all about money. He said EB believed his departure would hurt the ratings, but Jerry said nothing could be farther from the truth. He said they couldn't afford to keep him (JD) around as much as they had and that's why they killed him off and brought his ghost back occasionally. He said he and EB were paid a fortune and a pay cut was offered across the board.
So I don't know if EB's departure will have much of an impact on viewers, but I sure do believe that scaring off CE with that idiotic gay hiccup of a s/l was dumber than dumb. He was a FAR better actor, and a whole lot cuter too (which always helps, lol).
Soaps will always have appeal. Look at Desperate Housewives, Mad Men, The Tudors, Corry Street...so popular. But the actors have got to get a grip and stop expecting gigantic salaries. Why should they be able to command an exorbitant rate when they really contribute noting to the betterment of mankind? Teachers get paid a pittance and yet they do have an enormous influence on the children and the future. Society is all screwy. Teachers and doctors should be paid the same rate while actors should make a living wage, period. They are supposed to be "artists" and do it for the love of their art.
The whole thing is a mess. I think that the show could survive without Victor Newman but I don't think that it will be as good without Jack and Victor...And Adam and Jack just wouldn't be the same.
