Sunday

Hey all! What's up for today?

I didn't make it to the library yesterday, so I'm planning for that this afternoon. Nothing else though besides watching football.

Hey, Jojo!

After a crazy busy Friday and Saturday (just family stuff, nothing exciting), we're off to Q's 2nd birthday party this afternoon for a Winnie the Pooh cake and tea. We bought him his snow boots and ski socks for his birthday this year and some bubble bath for Vanessa because we can't give her brother a pressie and not her, lol. As soon as there is a good snow, little Q will be put on his first pair of skis! I can't wait to see THAT!

Ted and I ate a good huge brunch at 10:30, he's in the shower getting gorgeous (?!) and I'm just bumming for a few more minutes.

We heard from Nick this morning from Palaque (?) in the Yucatan. He's been doing touristy stuff there all week. He and Evelyne leave Mexico on the 25th and head back to Whistler via Charlotte and Phoenix. Cheap flights.

We'll see Mike and Maya this afternoon too, always a treat.

I hope all are having a nice quiet Sunday.

Jim got home from NC yesterday afternoon, and both Lucy and I were thrilled to have him back! Lucy turned into a real "love ho" by hurling herself on her back, and begging for pats and kisses. She just hates it when father is gone because he spoils her rotten...

The rain FINALLY stopped during the wee hours of the morning, although I have to say that, for the past several days, it was the cozy kind; a steady rain without the thunder that scares Lucy, or that brings flooding to our basement! Exactly the kind of rain I love.

KaeEll, tell Nick and Evelyne to waive at AZ-D as they pass through Phoenix! LOL... I hope they've had a fabulous trip.

Enjoy the birthday party! What a big boy Q is now... Do you have room for cake, after having such a big breakfast? What did you feed Ted?

Hello, JoJo, Kae, and Moore! Sounds like you are having a good Sunday! Yesterday we could finally turn off the AC and open all the windows!

Have fun at Q's birthday party!

Our weather here is nutty. After all that snow, it's back into the 70's.

Well, that's just crazy! At least the snow ought to melt fairly quickly...

We're back from Q's party that didn't turn out too well. The little guy "refused" to take his nap, was cranky and had a cold plus, the neighbours were there and that completely changed the dynamics. V tossed her bubble baths on the floor, completely disinterested, didn't acknowledge the present and was not encouraged by either parent to do so. After Q went into hysteria and the neighbour lady took over holding the baby, I grabbed Ted and my parents and we left. The chaos in the house was palpable and I was in no mood to deal with it after balloons were popped and I nearly jumped out of my skin. Q didn't even open his presents from us.

Tony will get an earful from me tomorrow. I don't blame him for the cranky birthday boy, but a little girl who is nearly 5 years old that is allowed to behave like a spoiled brat is inexcusable. I'm really upset and terribly disappointed.

I'm sorry that things didn't work out so well, KaeEll. Once the situation begins to deteriorate with little ones, it can go downhill pretty darned quickly, that's for sure! Adding excitement, no nap, and a nasty little cold to the mix doesn't help either.

If it's any consolation, I'm sure that V will enjoy her bubble bath later, when things have calmed down. If her parents are on top of things (and I can hear you snort all the way down here), they'll remind her that the nice bubble bath came from her grandmother and grandfather, just because they wanted to bring her a little gift, even though it wasn't even her own birthday. On a quieter day, I think it's fair to ask V if she liked her gift, and to let her know that you wondered about it because she didn't say "thank you" when she saw it... It's even fair for you to tell her that it hurt your feelings a little bit because you'd brought it especially for her, and you didn't think she'd liked it.

It's important for little ones to become aware of other people's feelings early on. I see this as an opportunity for that, and also as one for you to give her lots of HUGE hugs and kisses, after the two of you have talked about it together, and she's finally said her proper "thank you", face to face.

Yeah. Moore, I know that you're right about the "later" thing, and that V will come around. In fact, Tony called me last night to apologise for a few things and I told him how disappointed we were. He was sullen and quiet, not expecting the reprimand. He said that the situation would be "corrected". I do hope he uses extreme tact and diplomacy with his wife should he choose to discuss my concerns with what happened. Otherwise, it will be a *^&%$$# them kind of response. *sigh* As it turned out, the neighbours stayed a full two hours and some after we all had left. That pretty much encapsulates what THAT party was all about.

Ah well. This is another day. Another day, another set of whatevers coming along, LOL.

I'm glad to know that Tony called you! It means something that he initiated the conversation... I think it's perfectly fair, too, that you expressed your disappointment.

Your DIL has no right to have "attitude" towards your concerns about your own grandchildren, especially given the fact that you've spent a lot of time with the kids (more than many grandparents are willing or able to do), and have bailed her out numerous times with babysitting. I would've killed to have had extended family near me when our children were young!

You're right about it's being another day. LOL...

LOL!! Seems that the most important "issue" today is that there is NO ANSWER at my hair salon. I need to change an appointment. So that's good, non?

D-i-l did call me this morning just to yippity yap but I had to cut her off when I got a beep from Ted's office. So it seems all is well.

Another tempest in a teacup. LOL!!

But I am ticked off about the salon. I'm a crabby old bird. :)
