So far it's been quiet, but I've spent the entire morning on the phone... So far, I've spoken to AZ-daughter, our son, Jim (of course), and a childhood friend. NC-daughter called last night, but said that she would call again today, as did my friend, Liliane, down in Florida. I imagine that there will be several additional bursts of calls from other friends, and from my nephews.
Jim and I may go out to dinner tonight, but haven't quite decided where. You know what the BEST thing is about this birthday?? It's election day which means that we won't be bombarded by political telephone calls anymore, or recorded messages left in our voice mail, as of tomorrow! Hooray for that...
Jim says that he's going to get me a new digitial camera, as soon as I decide which one I want, since my other one died about a year ago. I've been having trouble making up my mind, and that's probably from reading all the reviews on Amazon. Every time I think I've decided, I see a negative review that makes me change my mind again. Sweet Jim left three great cards by my coffee mug, the best one being a representation of a very generous donation to my former school, which he made in my name. This gift means more to me than I can possibly express because the school is feeling the effects of the economy, and has put out an S.O.S. for additional help this year. Everyone is trying to rally; the school survived the Civil War, and the 1970s when single-sex schools were closing their doors regularly, so I'm praying that we can survive this financial crisis too. Juliette Gordon Low, founder of the Girls Scouts of America, attended, so just for the historical value alone, it's worth preserving. If only we could funnel some of that COOKIE money in the direction of Staunton, VA...
I'm going to go find myself some lunch, and get ready to watch AMC. Then I guess I'd better get serious about choosing a restaurant!
Thank you again so much for the sweet birthday wishes.

Did you get the camera yet? I hope you did so that you can post more pictures here! I am sorry that I missed your birthday. I just got back from San Francisco late last night. Today is my daughter's (Monica) birthday. She is my first born and one of two North Carolina daughters.
