Hi friends! Seems like I don't stop by here often, and I must change that. I miss chatting with everyone.
Anywho, how is everyone? Kae, I saw you were feeling pretty blue last week...are things any better? Lots of love and hugs. To everyone, for that matter.
Any plans this weekend? The nasty weather is keeping us in, but I have plenty of moves to watch and books to read.
Hey, Jojo! I think that we all had a difficult time stopping by the past week or two. Maybe with the promise of spring, we'll regain a little energy. Yes...spring will come where you are too!
It's good to see you here.

Yes, Jojo, I agree with you----you should stop by here more often! Yesterday I washed my car out in the beautiful sunny 76-degree weather. Today is cloudy and only in the lower 72. I signed up for some free community classes this morning that will take place over the next three months. Oh, the joys of being over 50! Tonight we are crossing the city to go to a square dance.
We had lots of wedding running around. Started out at the florist where Sharon was told that she could in fact get Daffodils in her bouquet. So that was a success. Seems my bouquet will have lots of daisies which is awesome because I love them.
Got bridal dresses for Jolene and Hailey. Will post a picture if I can.
Moore a friend of mine told me about going to the History Museum up in DC. I think I may try a trip up your way come spring or summer. I love History.
It seems that since most of our original members don't watch soaps we don't chat like we use to. Hey Jojo, would you know how to get a hold of John? I wonder if he is okay...and what about Kris. I know her health was horrific the last we heard.
Anyways, its different for me Jo because I post with you on FB but it is nice for all of us to be here together.
Shelly, that's a great museum, and it's also in a row of other museums that include the Museum of Natural History (one of my favorites!), and the National Gallery of Art which is also one of my favorite places. Across the Mall is yet more of the Smithsonian, so you could spend about three or four days, just in that one block!
I remember hearing a statistic about THIRTY years ago. A tour guide told me that if you spent just TWO SECONDS in front of each display that the Smithsonian had to offer, it would take you fifty years to see all of it. I'm sure that the additions since then have grown exponentially, so there's no chance that any of us will ever be able to see everything.
It's worth trying though...

Hi all! Yep, those winter blahs sure have been overwhelming this year, especially because we have NO SNOW here, lol. Usually we're so busy shovelling our way through just to survive, the long nights here seem to have taken their toll. I thought some retail therapy might help so I went to Pier One yesterday and bought some new cushions. Of course, the stop at the Lindt chocolate shop didn't hurt. :)
Shelly, do your best to post those wedding dress pics. So exciting!! Jojo, I have been following the Wyoming weather patterns and you have had a real onslaught this year. At least you're not suffering like those poor sods in Flagstaff, Arizona with the four feet of white stuff. They're not in the least prepared to deal with it!
We're okay-ish here. Nick has run into a major snag with his Club Crawl contravening some bylaws in the town of Whistler. No fun for him trying to deal with that legally. Mike is disgusted by his band's drunkenness and demanding behaviour during their NZ tour and is looking forward to going to England next for a linguistics conference. I suggested to him that the guys he's travelling with haven't had the chance to be far away from home before and their behaviour is juvenile, to be kind. Then again, an asshole is an asshole no matter where you take him. With some luck they'll snap out of it., although I'm not particularly optimistic.
Speaking of which, it's all too true that character really comes to the fore during the tough times, non? My friend, whose mother passed away this past fall, is having a hell of a time with her squabbling siblings over the modest estate. *sigh*
Moore, every time we'd stop by DC, we'd always take some time for the Smithsonian displays, and even after at least a half dozen stops, we'd barely scratched the surface! The guys' faves were always in the aeronautical rooms. Men, eh?
Sundancer, you are one of the busiest souls I've ever met! You must share the secrets of your energy!
Shelly, I have John's old email address if you'd like it.
KaeEll, I should post some of the pictures of the flooding our daughter sent from Arizona. It's been crazy! They even closed down the airport. And that snow... AZ-daughter said that, as dramatic as it was, she still had to laugh a bit (as someone from the East Coast) to contemplate having an airport closed because of rain. "Can't land any planes here today, folks; it's raining..." LOL.
My husband's favorite museum is the Air and Space museum. Of course... Years ago, he even volunteered as a docent, he loved it so much!
I'm so sorry about Nick and Mike. Neither of them deserves to have these headaches in their lives. Poor Nick! Such a great idea he has going, only to have some regulation interfere. Does anything ever go smoothly?
I think that Sundancer's secret may be in her swimming. I've always understood it to be the best excercise anyone can do, and I'm betting that it keeps her energized. Of course, she also does other things that are good for her spirits, like dancing! Never hurts...

Keeping things light, lol, here are some pictures of the new Pier 1 pillows I got yesterday. I tell myself that it was considerable cheaper than a ticket to the Bahamas. Not quite as cheering, but it did the trick for a little while, lol.
As for Mike and Nick hitting some barriers, it's all a learning experience for them. For Nick, it's an uphill battle with city hall, but it will teach him to be more cautious in the future about new enterprises, timing etc. Someone will eventually benefit from all his efforts, but I'm not sure that it will be Nick this time, at least not monetarily.
Oh! And I'm taking our auto insurance provider to task. They just sent us a bill for $1500 for 6 months - one car, two perfect drivers with no moving violations or accidents, no tickets. WTH? And my father, legally blind in one eye, driving around in his HMS gas guzzler, pays $780 a year! Geeze. I'm waiting for the woman to call me back after her lunch break.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you with the auto insurance. That's crazy.
CUTE pillows! I try to stay away from Pier I because I always see too many things I like! We have one within a couple of miles of our house , and I often come close to driving past it with my eyes tightly SHUT. LOL...
Okay, not really. The potential results would probably make MY insurance company very unhappy.

I love the pillows. I love how much pillows like that add to a room. So much color. Keep us posted on the insurance, what a mess. My SIL works for State Farm but she is in WI so she wouldn't do you any good at all.
I get my bridesmaid dress on the 3rd. I have Jolene's dress but silly me only took the picture with my phone. I might be able to find the dress on the Penney's website.
Today was a CRAZY day on GH so the boards are blowing up with poster violations. I really wish people could act as though they made it out of the third grade.
As it turns out, that statement was for the combined insurance for house, contents and car, but you had to read the teensy weensy print at the bottom to realize THAT, and the insurance lady apologized. Geez. The car part is only $800 annually less a $400 credit from when we gave the Grand Am to Nick and he took it out west. So for heaven's sake, I had a near hissy fit over nothing, but they could have at least included a cover letter warning people of the ambiguous statement enclosed. Lazy, non?
Moore, about Pier 1 - they have gone a tiny bit up-scale now that Bombay Company has been bought out by Benx and has gotten kind of junky. They (Pier 1) now have some of the home doodads Bombay used to carry, such as those ever-so-necessary balls to put in bowls etc, lol. They are also carrying some furniture that is somewhat better than the big bad wolf who could blow it down stuff that they used to have in stock. Some of the tables and chairs are really quite decent, particularly their slipper chairs for bedrooms and the odd breakfast room sets. Ted could barely drag me out of there after an hour of poking around, lol. There was this one little red box I thought I really needed...
I always try to go to Pier 1 when I'm in Rapid City, but only for the clearance. The stuff's far too expensive, and I find it hard to pull myself away for stuff I really think I need, LOL. Cute Pillows though Kae! And so sorry to hear of Mike and Nick's troubles.
We've got snow today, but I think it's supposed to clear up. Maybe. I hope. And I do feel for the folks down south who aren't used to all the white stuff.
And I would LOVE to go to the Smithsonian. It's on my list of stuff that I want to do someday. Sigh...
All this talk about Pier I is making me want to GOOOO there......... Stop it immediately!
Speaking of the Smithsonian and Washington, DC, jojo, I just recently finished reading The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown, and really enjoyed it. It's one of those books where one chapter just drives you to the next, and you can't figure out where there's a good stopping point, so you can put the book down! LOL... It was especially fun for me to read because of all the DC landmarks. There WAS one glaring error in the very beginning that annoyed me because it was so unnecessary. It had to do with which monuments could be seen (and where they were located) when crossing Memorial Bridge, but other than that it was fun.
I'd downloaded it to my Kindle, but thought that our son would enjoy it, so ended up ordering a hard copy from Amazon. He's a Mason, so I thought that would add an extra layer of enjoyment for him!
Jojo, you should defintely spend some time in Washington, DC one of these days. It's worth seeing. Let me know!
