Wednesday

Hi! It's almost the end of January!! Are we excited yet, lol?

The phone line here is misbehaving again, dropping calls, staticky, etc. Squirrels eat the lines outside, phone company doesn't want to take responsibility. Thank goodness for cell phone, eh? Geez.

I'm baby sitting again at 2 until 7ish. Tony's back working in California at Walmart's head office there setting up something or another for them, d-i-l's a bit swamped, so I go over to help where I can. Kind of exhausting, though. Yesterday Vanessa wanted to know if her daddy paid me too much because her friend's daddy was complaining that he paid THEIR nanny too much. (Kids call me "nanny".) I snorted. I had to explain that I wasn't THAT kind of nanny. Maybe I should have picked a different name for them to call me, lol.

So what's up today?

Shelly, Y&R has that guy from GH playing Tucker now. I think it's a better choice because the other guy looked a tad too old to be Kay's son.

Well, the temperature is dropping in the next couple of days with the north winds coming through here. Across the street from us, there are construction workers building two houses simultaneously. I am staying home today to get caught up on odds and ends. What are all y'all doing today?

Had my hair done, and was it ever overdue!

Long story, but I found a place a few years ago that I like, and a hairdresser that I liked. After returning to her a number of times, she left. I found another hairdresser there, liked her, and then SHE left! Finally, about a year ago, I found this darling girl at the same place, named Flynn. My first question for her was "Are you going to be leaving here anytime soon, or do you plan to stay??" She assured me that she didn't have any plans to leave.

Last September, I had this "funny feeling", so called to schedule an appointment. I needed it anyway, but suddenly felt very anxious to get there. Yep. It was her last week; she was moving to California! She gave me a number of names of people she thought I might like in the salon, and I'd really been meaning to get in there to break in yet another one. (Feeling a bit paranoid!) But, what with the holidays, I began to drag my feet, and just kept putting it off.

Last week, I finally took a good hard look in the mirror, and ran to the phone! I explained that I was one of Flynn's former clients, and wanted to try X. The receptionist informed me that Flynn had just returned from California two days earlier, and even had her same station.

I swear that Flynn and I must have some weird ESP going on! Very strange timing on both ends of her travels...

Moore, I hear ya about hairdressers, lol. A bad cut is like a bad choice of a picture frame. Just the right curve here and there can make all the difference to a face. Breaking in a new stylist can be painful, lol. I remember a few years ago trying out a renowned guy here, paying almost $200 for a cut and blow dry. I was pleased. I went back 6 weeks later, paid the same amount and left with WET hair at the back and looking about the same as I always did for almost a tenth the amount at the salon nearby. At least there they dried my hair completely, lol.

Looks like I'm on duty again as d-l just called and needs help. I'll snort around here and get thing started before heading over to give her a hand. I'm running out of un-baby-barfed on tops that are suitable for my "nanny" duties, lol. Tony's house is draughty with old windows, so on the one hand I freeze in a t-shirt, on the other, if I wear a sweater, it's a dry-cleaning bill. LOL. If only all of life's problems were so simple, non?

Did anyone watch Obama's speach last night? He's still very popular up here although I understand his approval ratings have dropped off where the votes live.

I didn't watch, although I almost never watch when the President speaks. As probably the only person here who didn't vote for Obama I can't say that I am impressed with anything he has done just yet. He has only been in, what a year? So I am going to wait, no rush judgments from me.

Kae, I wonder if you could get some cheapy sweaters or sweat shirts to wear for baby play? I know walmart is the worst place on earth but I don't think they sell anything that requires dry-cleaning. Either way, have fun with the kiddos. How old is baby now? The twins are almost 9 months old and it boggles my mind.

Moore I am thrilled for you that your stylist is back. I need to get in to see one. We are thinking of a beauty college for the wedding. I have really long hair that I think will just get curled . Nothing too fancy, or too difficult.

Jim LOVES it when I go to the salon, because it plays into a fetish that he has: he loves the "girlie" way my hair smells after they use all of their products on it, and spends most of the evening sniffing my hair! LOL... Okay, maybe that's a little TMI. He does the same thing after I shampoo, using my own stuff, but I think that the unfamiliar fragrance from the salon captures his attention even more. That's all perfectly fine with me! I'll take being noticed and appreciated, even if it involves a little hair sniffing. So, yeah. I felt a bit more glam after the color, cut, and sniffing!

We watched the speech last night, and I thought it was good. I love the way Obama is able to make a little fun of himself, and also ad lib, when necessary. I also like the way he projects confidence, and accepts responsibility. Let's hope that his policies work!

KaeEll, I agree with Shelly. You should go to K-Mart or Walmart for some inexpensive sweaters, or even some lightweight sweatshirts. Boy do I remember those days of the stained shoulders! I began dating Jim soon after my oldest nephew was born, and I swear that there was a shoulder stain on everything I had! Sometimes the cleaner couldn't get it all out, so I'd stick a big pin on the shoulder, where the stain was! It's a good thing that my nephew ultimately became Jim's too...

Shelly, I think that wearing your hair down in a soft style would look really pretty with that dress.

I agree with Moore and Shelly. Some long sleeved shirts or sweat shirts will be comfortable for both you and the baby's face! As for drafty windows---do they have curtains that be closed? That would help.
