There were times this winter when I wondered if any of us would make it through!
I lay in bed this morning, just listening to the birds sing, and the happy neighborhood sounds. It's seventy degrees, and the sun is shining. Jim was up early (as usual), and put the umbrella out on our patio (well, deck) table, in the back yard, and yanked the cover off the grill. YAY!!
We have a ton of yard work that needs to be done, because of the snow. Lots of clean-up, and some shrubs that were beaten up a bit. Nothing too terrible though.
Lucy has had spring fever for about two weeks now, and can't take her feeble bones outside often enough. Some days she just barks at nothing, wanting only to hear the sound of her own little canine voice. LOL... Yesterday, though, she had the joy of seeing a bunch of kids walk down the sidewalk that runs next to our house, so she was in doggie heaven. "THEY'RE BACK!!" woofwoofwoofwoofwoof. runrunrunrunrun. woofwoofwoof...
Stretching those old legs, exercising those hibernating lungs!
Of course, the kids completely ignored her, but she still believed that she'd chased them all away.
WOOF!
The return of spring also means that my neighbor's grandchildren will be playing in their back yard, on a frequent basis, bringing back all the sounds of my own children's childhood when our kids and our neighbor's kids were ALWAYS either in our back yard, playing together, or next door. Those were the days when I had no fewer than seven children in our house (or outside), at any given time! It was crazy chaos, and SO much fun...
Our son may be coming over tonight or tomorrow night (hasn't decided which one yet), so it looks as though we'll have a chance to fire up that newly-freed grill. Happy, happy spring!!

Aw yes, spring. That's the thing we had for four days last week before it snowed. I'm back to hunkering down mode, lol.
I have the fireplace guy coming here any minute to clean the gas fireplace, then a dentist appointment at 2. And no car again - Ted took it this morning after a bit of a work-related panic. What could I say? My taxi receipts pile up and soon enough I'll be able to make my case for that second car again, lol.
We cheered the health care reforms that finally went through last night in the USA. Congratulations all!
Seriously, aren't we up to like number 5. We should try and get as many members to pop in and say hello.
Anyways, my wonderful weekend was ruined by rain today. Spring for me also means milk thistle needs to get ordered. I still can't find the good flavored kind so the nasty stuff it is. Either way I am certain that the thistle combined with my weight watchers helped me knock off 25 pounds last time.
Jolene had a dentist appointment today. Her first that I didn't have to go in and pin her down. There is something to be said for children dentists. She went in all by herself. I stayed in the waiting room with the twins while they played on the play ground. She has 2 cavities and will go back for fillings in 2 weeks. Not sure why they would fill baby teeth but it is what it is.
Good morning! Yep, this board started in a May, 4 or 5 years ago. Hard to believe, isn't it? With the regular use of facebook among some of our original members, posting here has become less popular. I have my own reasons for eschewing fb most of the time, but for many, it seems to be the outlet that fills that bill, hence fewer people around here.
Anybody watch DWTS last night? Aiden wasn't very good in spite of all that bravado in his intro. Buzz Aldrin's wife is a a scary looking thing, non? As for Pamela, I've always said one needs a can of Lysol spray after she's been around, and that still applies, LOL. It's not that she's all that bad at dancing, but if she'd forget about the sex-pot thing long enough, we might even see a shade of ability. That woman with the 8 kids, Kate something, was terrified! Ditto for Shannon Doherty. And anyone know what happened to the original co-host, Samantha Harris? Then we watched a really GOOD episode (in MHO) of Castle. Love, love, love Nathan.
Shelly, I think the reason dentists fill little kids' cavities is so they won't have further problems down the way should the cavities get bigger. It's not such a bad process any more either. Gets kids used to having all that monkeying around inside their little mouths. Ugh, eh? (I've always suspected it has something to do with a dentist's yacht mortgage.)
Rainy day here. Ted went with Mike to his storage locker early this morning. I asked them to bring me back a maple cream donut. I feel like being BAD today.
I haven't seen last night's Castle yet (Tivoed), but Jim and I still LOVE that show! We watched DWTS, and were both too tired to stay up for Castle. I think they have a pretty good batch of dancers this year. Poor Aidan Turner reminded me of Cameron Mathison; nice eye candy, but not a lot of grace on the dance floor!
KaeEll, we had lots of rain here yesterday, and I was a complete zombie. I hadn't slept well the night before, so having a rainy day just darned near put me into a coma. I wish I'd had a maple cream donut!!
I think that we're coming up on our 4th anniversary. I had JUST begun moderating over on SOC when I was invited to come over here. That was in June of 2006, and y'all were still brand new. It's scary how quickly that time has flown by!

I watched Castle and immediately wanted to scour the internet to try and find spoilers. I mean how can they kill Kate? Sorry Moore. I know you said you didn't watch. I just have a hard time believing they would get rid of one of the shows lead characters.
Didn't watch DWTS. I don't usually watch for a couple of weeks. At this stage usually the dancing is so bad I just can't watch.
Listening to OLTL and after thinking about spoilers am wondering why I bother. I am fairly certain I still have that new show "Flashforward" on my DVR.
Anyways, am trying the diet thing again. I will be 30 next month. SERIOUSLY not looking forward to this birthday. But would like to lose a few pounds first anyways.
Shelly, I agonized over my 30th birthday my entire 29th year! When the day finally arrived, I was sorry that I'd expended so much energy on worrying about it; I realized that I LOVED turning 30!! I felt suddenly like a woman, not a 20-something, and rather glamorous. I also realized that I was at the beginning of a whole new decade. The thirties are great! Don't fret...
My boss at the time made me feel even better about it. He said "A woman isn't even really a woman until she turns thirty." I agree with him...
