The Saga Of The New Vroom Vroom

So initially on last Saturday (not this past one) we had picked up a silver 2010 Camry LE. Great car, lots of good things about it. However, a couple of problems. We had ordered an IPOD hook up that they were going to install and then they were going to fix a scratch for us.

Turns out that on Monday, the A/C wasn't blowing cold air. We took in and got a loaner, a Scion XD (that thing was crappy).

So during this process we find out the car is all ready equipped with an IPOD hookup and there is no separate hookup to install. Then we find out the scratch that occurred is under the clear coat paint and the day just kept moving out and moving out and horrible communication on when this was getting done.

So I called the Customer Relations manager and by Thursday evening they had given us a different car and are handling the silver one as their own problem. Along with that, they swapped out the IPOD purchase with adding clear bra (hood, mirrors, sides, handles, under the handles), giving us 2 years free maintenance and we got tickets to the Rockies game this Saturday that went 14 innings and a Benihana gift card.

You know sometimes you ask for patience and God says "Okay you're going to learn patience." Normally all the trouble would have sent me into a rant and rave but I kept my cool and things have turned out for the better. Better color car, better accessories, maintenance added. So all and all things turned out better.

Here's what the new vroom vroom looks like:

That is an awesome car, and a toyota will last you forever. My mom actually totalled her 99 Camry back in February and with the insurance check she got another 99 Camry. They are really great cars.

EXCELLENT, Brandon! Beautiful car...

I'm glad to know that Toyota decided to handle this problem with courtesy. We've owned a couple of Toyotas, and our local dealerships were both really nasty! Of course, Toyota has a lot of public relations fence mending to do too...

And speaking of lasting a long time -- my last Toyota was a 1994 Camry wagon (dark blue). Unfortunately (because this is the way my life tends to go), it was a bit of a lemon, and we ended up essentially buying that car twice, because we had to replace just about everything in it! (Our dealership couldn't have cared less, and offered us a free oil change.) Having said that, once we finally got everything fixed, that car went through several lives. All three kids learned to drive in it (because I didn't particularly CARE what happened to it), we hauled plants from the local nursery in it, and finally it was handed down to my son, when he got his license. HE drove it for several years, and then AZ-daughter drove it BRIEFLY, but was too humilated to drive it for long.

By then, I'd gotten a new NON-wagon car for the first time in a gazillion years (no more hauling kids around, and finding fossilized french fries under the back seat), so we parked the wagon on the street.

About four years ago, NC-daughter was here with her boyfriend whose car probably being held together with paper clips. It was a total junker, but it was all he had, and he'd driven it numerous times back and forth from Vermont to North Carolina.

It died a tortured death in front of our house, so we gave him the Toyota.

He's STILL driving this 1994 car, although our daughter told us just this weekend that they're finally beginning to think about getting Loren a new one.

A 1994 lemon that's still running...

YAY for Brandon and the new wheels! I spite of all the bad stuff going on with Toyota, it's still a wonderful car and ought to last you until you're all quite sick of it, lol. My son, Tony, still has a Camry his wife bought 12 years ago and it's still a dream to drive. They were thinking of trading it in when they got that new Ford Flex but kept it for the heck of it and use it all the time. So there ya go!

Patience, that virtue so hard to come by, is a handy thing, non? I wish I had a "little" more of it so many times a day. *sigh* Like with this bleeping lemon of an iMac I still have.

PS - good looking car, too, Bran. Congrats.
