Mike en route again

Hi all. After his 6 week sojourn here, Mike is on the fly again, this time to Los Angles where he'll be staying in a "quaint"(probably run-down) little art deco cottage in Santa Monica until May 31. Nice life, lol. He just packs up his work and off he goes. Chloe is more upset than I am this time.

It was a busy time with him here. We had several family get-togethers, kids everywhere, parents befuddled by all the confusion and excitement, and a trip out one night to one of his jazz gigs at a pub where the food was surprisingly really, really good. Nick, who was supposed to come home for a visit for a couple of weeks next week, has postponed his return to coordinate with Mike's. THAT will be fun, lol. No sooner do we get all used to peace and quiet, whap!

Moore, how are you feeling now? Are you all gearing up for the trek out west to the graduation?

What's up, everyone?

Sundancer, what did you wear to the hobo party? That sounds like it would be lots of fun.

KaeEll, I know you'll miss Mike. Yeah -- nice to be able to pack up your work, and go!

Jim and I are doing a little better, thanks... It's an adjustment, but there's nothing to be done about it.

As for the trip, I'm looking forward to it, but am (of course) already massively stressed about the travel part. Hate it! But it's going to be nice to have the whole family out there together, and this is the first time that our oldest daughter and boyfriend Loren will have been to Arizona. Jim's going to take them up to the Grand Canyon, and do the Pink Jeep tour in Sedona while I stay behind with our graduate.

Our son's plans are, um, a bit nebulous right now. He's going to arrive the day before graduation, and will spend the night with his sister, at her new place. He'd originally planned to go to Scotland, immediately after the ceremony, but that fell through. Then, we wanted to go to Vancouver, but he can't find his passport (why am I not surprised??), and time is a bit too short to get a new one, unless he wants to pay a lot (which he doesn't). He may end up staying with his sister for a few extra days, but who knows?? It's clearly a plan in progress right now, and one that Jim and I have stepped away from. His plan, his vacation time, his choice...

Sundancer, I still say that you have WAY TOO MUCH FUN!! LOL...

Spring is back again, and I'm hoping that it'll stay here this time. No special plans today (a doll exhibit deadline is coming up, though, so I need to get serious about the sewing), but I'm glad it's Friday.

My husband and I wore old shirts and jeans with patches I hand stitched on. I wore a silly hat. This is how most of the people came. Everyone had to bring a can of something to add to the hobo soup. It started out with ground beef. We brought a can of tomatos and a can of green beans. I also made corn bread muffins as did others. Some people brought salad and some desserts. I thought the soup would be awful, but it actually turned out quite good.

This evening I am taking my husband to the airport because he is flying to Cleveland. He will be gone for a week.
