Good Friday Morning

Ugh, what a week. Although how nice that with Monday being the holiday it is already Friday. I love it. Not many plans for the weekend. My sister and her husband have been remodeling some of their house. They transfer out of here at the end of the year and what they are doing will help it rent out faster. Anyways, this weekend they are pulling up all the carpet and will lay down a hard wood. So that is what we will be doing. Er, that is what Vinnie will be doing. I will be keeping the kids out of the way. The hard wood will be great because they have a dog who likes to have accidents....so the wood will be much better.

I signed on yesterday to jr. moderate YnR as well as GH. Liz said they are 2 of the busiest boards so this shall be fun. I haven't posted at YnR is forever so I am having to relearn who all the posters are...it is fun for sure....and now I get to moderate with both Liz's.

What are you all up to on this very warm Friday.

Is it Friday already? Sheesh, quell week around here what with all the comings and goings of my kids, my parents, the neighbours (watching the people viewing their house has become a little bit of a hobby for me through the kitchen window shutters, lol), and here it is the day I drive my mom around, again. *sigh* The neighbours have over-priced their house and it will never sell the way they have it presented, but what do I know. I asked if a stager had been sent in to tart things up and was told it was unnecessary. Well, uh, nope, but then again, it's a lesson they'll have to learn the hard way. Expensive lesson, too. Oh well.

Yesterday I drove all over the place with Marilyn as she searched for the just right mango slicer (!!!) and the correct green bath mat for one of her two new bathrooms. It was a nice diversion for me, but considering the distance driven, and all for such a silly thing, I had to temper my criticisms with the notion that it served me well to get out of the house for the day. In the end, she did find the mango slicer (at BB and Beyond ) and the perfect green mat at Au Lit. After dinner I ate three bowls of ice cream with Hershey's chocolate syrup on top. I am going to go straight to diet hell one day.

I have to share a funny clip that Tony sent us this morning. If anyone ever watched Star Trek, TNG, back in the day, you'll get a good chuckle.

Shelly, I'm sure that Pop-Liz is greatly relieved to have some extra help on the Y&R board. That was really nice of you to volunteer, but I'm sure you're probably having a few, occasional "second though" moments! LOL... Pop-Liz is a sweetheart, from everything I've been able to tell, so I'm sure you'll have a good time working with her.

KaeEll, that just makes me TIRED to think about driving all over creation for a mango slicer. Geez. Did Marilyn think to check Amazon.com, by any chance? That site very often has exactly what one wants, without all the driving. I was able to find a juicer that I loved (I wanted to get some others for several people, and couldn't find what I wanted in actual stores anymore), and a digital meat thermometer with a probe that remains inside the meat, and beeps when the right temperature has been reached. I wanted it for each of my kids (oldest daughter is always worried about whether or not her food is thoroughly cooked, AZ-daughter because she's a perfectionist when it comes to food, and squished-in-the-middle-of-two-sisters son because he loves to grill). Amazon had both, and for the right price!

The Star Trek clip was clever. It reminds me of that ad with the talking babies that always cracks me up so much. It's really amazing how realistic the voice-overs can look!

And what's up with Mike and Nick these days?

Everyone in our neighborhood spies on the various neighbors too, especially on the rare occasion when there's someone new moving in. It's otherwise a very stable place, with few houses becoming available. (Normally someone has to die first!) It's actually something that none of us minds (the spying, not the dying), because we all like to be aware of who's driving through, and what's going on. I must say that several of my neighbors are far better at it than I am! My next-door-neighbor is the resident expert, and my neighbor across the street (the one whose in-laws used to own the house) is always outside with her four young children, and claims to "know all"... LOL!! She's hilarious, and says that nothing that happens in the neighborhood can get past her.

So TODAY is our wedding anniversary, so Jim and I had planned to go out to dinner together this evening, at one of our favorite little places. Then yesterday, I got an email from my nephew's wife, informing us that their oldest daughter is graduating from 8th grade this evening, and is receiving a special award for writing! The event begins at 6:00 pm, and goes until 7:30 pm, AND they live about 45 minutes from here in NON-rush hour traffic. Of course we want to BE there for Lauren, but it will also mean that Jim will need to leave his downtown office by about 4:00 pm, in order to get out of Washington, DC (on a Friday), and out to Gainesville. He said that he should know by early afternoon whether or not this is going to be possible.

Under other circumstances, I would remove that pressure from him, and just drive out there by myself, but because it's our anniversary, I don't want to leave poor Jim in the dust, abandoned on our special day, while I go out to Gainesville!

We'll see what happens! LOL... At this point, we'll probably just have some leftovers tonight, and go out tomorrow.

AWW, Happy Anniversary to you and Jim. It seems like this time of year is huge for weddings because I have seen so many anniversary notes on FB. I hope you guys get to do that dinner tomorrow.

We like to watch our neighbors too. But then, in typical military fashion our housing area is in the middle of not so safe neighborhood. So we like to make sure that people who come in belong.

I look forward to being at YnR. The show is getting good now too. My only thing will be getting use to the rules. I know all the rules are the same but different boards enforce different things. Like YnR doesn't allow writer bashing, but to an extent we do at GH. So, things like that I will have to get use to.
