Ok guys, I'm desperate, I want to have this baby like now. THe doctor says I'm ready to go and he won't stop it if labor starts, but he won't induce until February. I can't wait that much longer. Forget seeing my toes, I can't even see my belly anymore, I can't sleep in my bed anymore because well, I can't get out of it. Finally, I am starting to think this baby will be huge. I finally gained 2 lbs between doctor visits, but the thing is, I had the flu all last week, and wasn't able to eat much of anything, so yeah if he gained 2 lbs in one week, I'm terrified.
So I need your help. If you can think of any tricks, tips, or wives tales I am game for trying them!
Well there is a wives tale that having sex brings on labour
Also for your next visit, the doctor or nurse can break your plug. The nurse did this to me on my last pregnancy and sure enough I went into labor that night! (now don't ask me what a plug is, all I know is that it worked)
C-section? Naw......... Why have a C-section when the babies are big enough to crawl out on their own???
Actually, my youngest daughter had be delivered by C-section, but not because of her size. It was because she was what they call a "footling breach" which means that she was stretched out full length on her tippy-toes, like a ballerina, with her toes down rather than her head!

OH my goodness Moore, I could just imagine how uncomfortable that would be for you. I mean wow, I don't think my torso would even be long enough for that.
Jessica, my OB/GYN wouldn't induce labor either, unless it was medically necessary. And, believe me, with my son (and actually with that wretched little footling breech daughter), I was desperate to go into labor!
Did I mention that my son was born on Thanksgiving day? My little turkey...
And, yes -- I felt miserable with that last pregnancy. In fact, I was in bed the last two months. Not fun... Wreched child!
Anyway, not only did I have large babies, but I also carried them way out, and low. I always looked like I was ready to deliver in my fifth month! So, when I was in the last weeks of pregnancy with my son, my sister accompanied me -- drove me -- to one of my last medical appointments.
I wasn't feeling well that day from being tired all the time, and of course I looked like the side of a barn. I was also wearing the only comfortable shoes I had left: A pair of neon green running shoes. Way attractive. I also waddled!
After my appointment, my sister took me to a nice French restaurant for lunch. We were already seated when about six twenty-something women, all decked out as young professionals -- glammed up, etc. -- were seated at a large round table adjacent to ours. They were very involved in their conversations, and never so much as glanced our direction. Finally, inevitably, I had to go to the bathroom. When I got up, and walked past the twenty-something table, all conversation came to an abrupt stop as I tiredly waddled past them in my size 200 maternity dress, and neon green running shoes. They absolutely gaped at me in total horror and disgust. It was hysterical...!!! A little sad too, since I used to be the one all glammed up, but I was too tired, and too desperate to use the bathroom to care much!
My sister had witnessed the sudden horrified hush that had descended on that table, and was equally amused. She suggested that I might consider doing a community service by walking up and down the halls of all the local high schools, while wearing a sign that said, "This too could happen to you!"
I might have done it, but finally opted to go home for a nap instead.

Moore, your pregnancies sound like mine, I felt big from day one, I added water weight immediately. I was huge at the end, and I carried low. I was tired all the time. Not the type to be at the health club in my ninth month! In fact, I was mostly throwing up or sleeping. Terrible, but thank goodness healthy. My first son was induced as he was a little late, and to this day, he's a slow poke! My other son was a little early, but the biggest. And then my little petite Gabriella, so sweet and easy delivery! Epidurals with all of course. At any rate, I'm glad I'm done with those days!
When I was pregnant, I got a big ol' cyst on my tailbone. I had to go to the Emergency room, get it cut out and had to wear packing in it for a few weeks. Well, it was the type of wound that bled. Alot. And had a lot of pus. So, the bandages were HUGE. I had these two dresses I wore when I was pregnant because they were uber comfy. With them I wore slippers. Because of my insanely swollen feet.
So, when I went anywhere for those two weeks, not only did I have this huge ass belly that stuck out very far, but I had these bandages on my rear that made me look like I was wearing a few diapers. So, I stuck out far in both directions. It was HUMILIATING.
Oh, jojo, how awful... That's about the last thing that any pregnant woman needs!
Tina, it really is interesting how the personality before birth shows up in the children afterwards. The same thing happened with my three.
By the way, I never gained an obnoxious ton of weight with my three pregnancies. My doctor said that I should gain between twenty-five and thirty pounds to be healthy, and I gained between thirty and thirty-five pounds each time. It's just that those babies stuck way out right away, and I carried them really low, so I looked like I was ready to deliver! I was still working in downtown Washington, DC when I was pregnant with my first two, and everyone always thought that I was going to have twins.
My son may as well have been twins at 10 lbs, 7 ounces. Today, he's 6' 3" tall... My footling breech daughter is 5' 10", and my firstborn daughter is the shortest (tiny little 8 lb, 11 1/2 ounce baby) at 5' 7".

my first born....jarrod.....was weighed in at a wopping 12lbs 13 & three quarters ozs. yes, ladies, i kid you not. i'm diabetic & that was why he was so big. they had to go to pediatrics to get medium size diapers for my bouncing baby boy. add insult to injury the put him in w/the premies for observation rofl. he was the talk of the hospital. the ultrasound folks started a pool on how big he was going to be. a lab tech came in one morning, looked at my ID, looked at me again & said, "you're HIS mother???*. i'm a mere 5'2".
from my perspective you are all a bunch of wimps rofl.

Oh man, now I'm scared to deliver lol. I'm only 4'11 and I don't know if I could possibly squeeze anything 12lb 13 3/4 oz out of me, nope not happening, I had enough trouble with my tiny tots. I am really freaking out though because I actually gained 3lbs from last week to this week (the most I've gained between visits so far) and the scary part of it is that I was sick the whole time and ate practically nothing well I tried to eat but well .. the flu. So that's pretty much 3lbs of pure baby.
Well, an update. i tried the eggplant parmesian, and while I started having some contractions they stopped about 4 hours later and weren't all that intense. So tonight, I guess I shall try it again. I'm so sore I'm about to resort to the castor oil. The husband has been having a blast with the new Explorer so I've got the wild rides on bumpy rodes thing covered. Unfortunately he's a crappy driver, so I think my body's a bit used to it lol. I'm determined though! I am going to try everything that is safe.
Now if that doesn't work, the doc said if my blood pressure got high he would induce me ... anyone know how to fake a high blood pressure? I can't seem to get mine even in the normal range. I'm naturally a low bp type of gal I guess. Even during the week from Hell with the houseguests, my blood pressure was only 110/60. I kinda figured my blood pressure would have been through the roof that week. Or I could try to make myself get swollen, that's one thing I haven't had a whole lot of this time around, but I think that's because I don't drink soda, and all I want is water. Hmmm I wonder, maybe I should eat a whole whole lot of chinese food before my next appointment maybe I'll swell up then, because that's another one he said he'd induce for.
eat a lot of Chinese food, or other foods that are loaded with salt...thats how mine stayed up...I had a problem with High blood pressure when I was pregnant. Though when I was pregnant I was in Phoenix and my husband was in Hawaii, I was so stressed that Jo would get here before he did, so my BP was high
