In case we find ourselves starting to believe all the anti-American sentiment and negativity, we should remember England's Prime Minister Tony Blair's words during a recent interview. When asked by one of his Parliament members why he believes so much in America, he said:
"A simple way to take measure of a country is to look at how many want in... And how many want out."
1. Jesus Christ
2. The American G. I.
One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.
YOU MIGHT WANT TO PASS THIS ON, AS MANY SEEM TO FORGET BOTH OF THEM.
I'm angry at the Iraqi people for not getting their own country back together after all this time, they just want us to go in and fix all their problems, why don't they get all their own troops trained and put them in Bagdad? Why are they letting our soldiers get killed for their civil war?
Well I just was thinking about the current war, but yes people have died for our freedom in the past. My dad is a Vietnam Vet who is trying to get money from the government for Agent Orange, and my grandfather died in Iwo Jima, so I know. There was something on TV last night about how bad this current war is going. And It was fresh on my mind as I read the post.
Ok I knew there was a reason I liked Blair. He seems like the kind of guy who sticks to his guns, it's a shame he wasn't born in the U.S because he'd make a wonderful President. I'm going to go out on a limb here and I know this may not be well accepted but I gotta say it.
I don't like the fact that our people are over in Baghdad dying every single day, and I hate thr thought of sending more over there to possibly be slaughtered, but Bush has balls for sticking with this whole thing. He has to know that no one wants to send any more troops over there, but he still stands by his convictions. Obviously things are not working in the Middle East, and I'm not so sure that sending more troops over there will make much difference. There has to be a complete change in the way things are being handled over there. Anyways I give Bush a little bit of credit for not backing down when everyone else is literally against him. I hate the idea, but the gusto is admirable.
I think thats part of his problem....he is letting his pride get in the way of what may/or may not be best. And I agree that more troops probably wont help. They need to really rethink how they are doing things. I dont however agree with people who say we need to pull out and let them do what they want, simply because we destroyed there country..its not right for us to leave them to fix it all. But, they do need to do something
You hit the nail on the head, it's his pride. My cousin served in desert Storm, we went in, kicked butt and got out. The's Iraqi's are in a civil war, very similar to Vietnam IMO, and we either kick butt or we get out. I think Bush is too late on his latest plan. Think of all the dead and injured. Our country's morale as well as image to the rest of the world is at at all time low.
PS sorry I ruined the feel good thing, I had war on my mind and it should have been in a diff post
I'm never at a loss for an opinion! I am a Leo after all. My dad was just here and told me about his high school experience in Joliet, Il, Not known for having good schools. He actually dropped out due to the riots that took place in the 60's, a different side than what you hear on that news, that's for sure. Maybe one day we'll start a discussion on the 60's
Oooh the 60's I'd have to ask around about that, because my mom was only about 10 at the end of the 60's and my dad doesn't remember anything about them (wonder why). I agree with you though, Tina, I don't think it will do any good just to keep throwing more and more troops at the problem, but at the same time it sux to think about pulling out after everything that has been done. I think we need an actual military man in charge of things when it comes to the war. Bush may have gusto, but he lacks strategy, balls, and that cold hearted edge that he needs.
