OLTL Director Wins Award

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) -- "One Life to Live" Director wins her third award.

"One Life to Live" Director Jill Mitwell has won her third Directors Guild Association Award for her work on the ABC soap. The episode of "OLTL" which won Mitwell the award was episode #9779. The episode, which featured the funeral of John McBain, aired on Friday, October 6, 2006. She was assisted on that episode by Associate Directors Teresa Anne Cicala, and Paul Glass; Stage Managers Richard A. Manfredi and Alan P. Needleman, and Production Associate Nathalie Rodriguez.

This marks Mitwell's third win and seventh nomination in this DGA category. She won the DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Daytime Serials for "OLTL" episode #8295 in 2000 and episode #6356 in 1993. She was nominated for "OLTL" episode #8691 in 2002, episode #8012 in 1999, episode #7761 in 1998, and episode #7285 in 1996.

Mitwell was up against Directors from "All My Children," "General Hospital," and "Guiding Light" for this award, as well as fellow "OLTL" Director Larry Carpenter. Carpenter's submission was episode #9886. That episode, which aired on Monday, May 29, 2006 featured the execution of Todd Manning.

The 59th annual DGA Awards, 'which honor outstanding directorial achievement in feature film, documentary and television,' were handed out on Saturday, February 3, 2007 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles.

So that's weird. Todd's execution lost to John's funeral... how sad.

But then again this is how it was directed, now how it was performed. I guess I could understand that.
