For every cozy couple in Port Charles, like Nikolas and Emily or Robin and Patrick, there's a myriad of hapless singles, continually striking out at romance or looking for love in all the wrong places. As a belated Valentine's Day gift, here's a list of 10 love matches that could spice up GENERAL HOSPITAL.
1. Max and Maxie If anyone can lasso girl-gone-wild Maxie, it's Sonny's lovable bodyguard. He's tough but tender, and has a major soft spot for unruly blondes. (Hello, Carly?) Maxie is right up his alley. And think of the fun fans would have nicknaming this duo. "To the Max," "Maxmania".... The possibilities are endless.
2. Lulu and Pete Instead of pining for Dillon, why doesn't Lulu reconsider the sexy professor lurking the halls of PCU? Seriously, Georgie is way too goody-goody for the philandering prof. Pete needs a spunky lass like Lulu to keep him on his toes and even have a chance to whip the commitment-phobe into shape.
3. Bobbie and Noah She's been without a man since Jerry Jacks skipped out on her. He's been a lonely widower since his wife died. So why not have the nurse and doctor rekindle their romance from yesteryear in the name of nostalgia? "Bono" would be a welcome pairing for longtime GH fans, who fondly remember the stir they created back in the 80's. And think of the love song possibilities — "I Got You Babe" or, perhaps, one of Rick Springfield's (Noah) classics.
4. Alexis and Mr. Craig The "Smart Women, Foolish Choices" poster gal loves bad boys (see Sonny and Ric), and Mr. Craig certainly fits the bill. The sexy Aussie would have Alexis under his spell in no time flat. Heck, he even shares the same accent as her favorite ex-husband, Jax. Here's the scenario: Alexis could defend him following the Metro Court debacle. It wouldn't be the first time she fell in love via the courtroom.
5. Ric and Ms. Snead The vindictive DA and the uptight hospital administrator are both calculating control freaks. Plus, just about everybody in town finds them absolutely insufferable. One look into each other's eyes and they'd see their own mirror image staring back at them; surely, love at first sight.
6. Edward and Helena Imagine the repercussions if the two most powerful vets in Port Charles joined forces? Manipulative Edward and venomous Helena could wreak havoc galore on the town's citizens. It's been far too long since Edward has had a real woman on his arm. (Wacky Heather doesn't count.) Classy Helena fits the bill. Plus, she would ease right into life in the plush Quartermaine mansion. Imagine the story potential if they wed, making Helena Luke's monster-in-law.
7. Jax and Dr. Kelly Lee Forget Carly. She's hung up on Sonny. Jax needs a woman who's available and truly appreciates him. Enter Kelly. The feisty doc — remember her unabashedly doing shots at Jake's with Robin and the rest of her gal pals — could definitely keep up with the international playboy's lifestyle and keep him interested.
8. Rodriguez and Leticia He trails Lucky around the police station. She trails Carly and her sons around casa Corinthos. Together the cop and the nanny could finally walk side by side (not to mention hand in hand). Surely these faithful servants deserve some love.
9. Spinelli and Georgie Since Dillon lost interest in his lovely little peach, it's time Georgie moved on. And who better than fellow brainiac Spinelli? Between Georgie's book smarts and Spinelli's computer wizardry, they could take over the town.
10. Lainey and Stan The chemistry between Kent Masters King and Kiko Ellsworth (ex-Imani and Jamal) was just starting to bubble when PORT CHARLES got canceled. Now there's a second chance for the two actors to connect. The scenario for a meeting is already in place. Lainey is Sonny's shrink. Stan is one of his minions. Or maybe Stan's mom, Epiphany, could play matchmaker between her co-worker and son at the hospital.
