i am so ready for........CHRISTMAS!

yes, that's what i said.....christmas.

first thing you need to know is that i'm obsessed w/christmas trees. when we lived in jersey i was famous for hunting high & low....as many as 8 tree farms on thanksgiving weekend.....looking for the perfect tree. it had to be as big as i could find....tall, super full (hubs had to take the door off the house every year to get it in lol.) most importantly it had to look like it had grown in the forrest....not like it came out of a pencil sharpener. we would get this magnificant beast for no more than $35. hand to god!

we move down to florida. no tree farms to speak of....at least not close enough to us. trees on lots failed in stature & shape (pencil sharpener look) & of course the price for ones that evan came close were more like $100!!!

some financial reversals later & we were reduced to a 3.5ft tree (artificial). it just broke my heart tho i love my daughter dearly for getting it for me. every year i had high hopes of being able to afford a real tree. wasn't happening.

so last november i finally bit the bullet & figured we'd get a nice artificial one. found one in walmart, but of course it sold out quickly. sigh. so i started looking around & found the sites w/the high end trees. no way could we afford that. started saving so as to be ready for christmas '07. decided in february to take a look at those sites again thinking perchance i could catch a claearance sale. low & behold i fourd a 7.5ft tree for half price. also had lights on sale. i ordered and...............

it all arrived yesterday. tomorrow we open the box & uncrate it so we can make sure it's all in proper order.

i can't wait to see this tree!!! i'm so excited & feel like such a smart shopper lol.

did you know that there are only 297 days left until christmas. i can't wait for thanksgiving which is when we traditionally put up our tree. maybe we'll do it just a tad early this year.....oh like july fourth maybe????

Oh that's funny, Christmas is the last thing on my mind though. I'm so ready for Summer.

Where did you live in NJ??

Maybe you should move to Colorado where they have those beautiful trees covered in snow all around you. Did you enter the HGTV dream home sweepstakes?

Kris, I'll need your enthusiam around the middle of Novemeber for the season.

As it is right now, whenever I go out and see the people around us who haven't taken down their Christmas decorations (probably because it's so snowy and bleak out), I feel like leaving them a note in the mail box that they are disallowed from putting out lights, bows, wreathes, etc. in the future because they haven't managed to take them down in a timely fashion. It's a pet peeve of mine.

we unboxed the monster yesterday. emptied the hall closet (had stuff in it we hadn't touched in the three years we've lived here lol). we hefty bagged the color coded branhes & labeled them & put them in the bottom of the closet. this is now officially our christmas closet lol. we also figured out we don't have to branch the tree all the way around making it easier to fit where it will live for the holidays.

i remember when my kids were young & we loved the easter dress up & all that stuff. theiy're now both *adults* so we don't fuss anymore.
