I don't get this process at all. It's completely flawed. Tony Geary is up for best actor yet he really didn't do squat to be the top guy from GH. OLTL is up for best soap but yet they didn't get any top acting nominations and it sure wasn't the writing that got them there. You'll also notice OLTL wasn't up for a writing award. So if it wasn't the writing there, had to be the acting.
As far as supporting acting, love the thumbed noses at Brian Frons with the Dan Gauthier and Heather Tom nominations (even though I don't think Heather Tom deserves anything). REG got a nod and it was cool that Levin from AMC and Julie from GH got noms in younger actress but where was Kristen Alderson? Starr needed love there. And what did Genie Francis do in 4 weeks to earn a supporting nom? And did you notice that a lot of the top nominees have been nominated before? So it appears past merit gets them above first timers, which is horrible.
Bottom line, the process is flawed and I actually recommend a solution for next year. There are going to be 8 soaps. 8 of them. There is NO reason one soap should have multiple nominees. That rule should have been there a long time ago.

It is very flawed...I hate that Bree wasnt nominated again...with the DID thing she deserved something. And I disagree, I think that Heather Tom did good this year. They always give these things to people who cry alot...and she did that well this year. I think thats why Anthony Geary got one, he is probably my favorite but last year wasnt his best. The 4 weeks with Laura shouldnt have been enough to give him an emmy. Though the stuff early on in the year with Lulu in the hospital was pretty good.
I still think that Maurice should have been up there...same with Steve Burton
I am going to bet that Dan and Heather used their scenes from the rectory before the tornado as their submissions, and if so then I can deffinitely see why they were nominated. I'm also shocked about Bree and Kristen, but I am rooting for Leven. I just love the girl. I remember reading somewhere that almost all of the New York shows get ignored because all of the voting is done in LA. I could be wrong but I think that's what I heard.
Rosie actually said something smart today on the View. She said that Daytime Emmy's should be voted for by the fans and the viewers. I agree too. There are absolutely no Daytime Viewer's Choice Awards.
ok, bare with me here. I am slow. So NLG from GH didnt get nominated with all of her cancer stuff....I think I am not watching this year.
Oh and Jess, besides Ali being my favorite. Kristian Alfonso should have gotten a nom for her stuff after Zack died...and your right, Im not surprised, just ticked
I'd like to point out as much as can complain here, the process won't be changed unless we tell them it needs to be. The contact information for the NTA can be found below:

Proof double nominations for one soap in a category is a bad thing:
2 Y/R in Lead Actor 2 Y/R and 2 GL in Lead Actress 2 Y/R in Supporting Actor 2 GH and 2 OLTL in Supporting Actress 2 ATWT in Younger Actor 2 ATWT in Younger Actress
Sorry the actors and actresses on CBS are not that much grander then the actors and actresses from NBC and ABC. So if we implemented my 1 nominee per soap per category, here's what would open up:
1 more opening in Lead Actor 2 more openings in Lead Actress 1 more opening in Supporting Actor 2 more openings in Supporting Actress 1 more opening in Younger Actor 1 more opening in Younger Actress
So that's 8 more people that could have gotten nominations. Guys like Trevor St. John, Michael E. Knight, Thorsten Kaye, Peter Reckell and so forth to get a shot in lead actor, Bree Williamson could have gotten a nod in lead actress along with Kristian Alfonso, maybe Alison Sweeney, and so forth.

I'm frucking stunned. No TSJ or Kristian Alfonso? Seriously?
And OLTL got a nod for drama series? Really? I have loved OLTL for a long time, but..... I know they they got the nod though solely on the execution scenes probably.
I'm muy excited though for Heather and Dan. Woohoo!!!!
no michael e. knight??? no maurice bernard? no steve burton? no tsj? no nlg?
i'm thrilled w/dan gauthier's nomination. i'm thrilled w/julie berman & levin's noms. i don't think levin will get it, but wait until next year w/her dual role!!! i love that gina tognoni is nominated again this year. i so want abc to snag her for the brenda recast. she will burn up the screen.
KZ nominated again...GL best drama. OMG! what absolute crap. tony geary....for working part time....genie francis for one month's work? they need a guest star category if they are going to nominate people who barely showed their faces grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
no best drama for GH. eejits. and how do you get best writing & not best drama. bullshit!
OLTL for best drama. who the hell did they bribe to get this nomination??????
gotta stop now.....i'm giving myself a migraine!

Kris, for once I totally agree with everything you said (except I LOVE Anthony Geary and can see why he got a nom, though not over MB or SB). I HATE that MEK got jipped. Then again ABC as a whole got jipped again. And thanks to Bran for providing the info I am actually gonna write these jerks and complain. It cant hurt right
Yup, I agree with the need for a guest star nomination, because there are so many people who would be great for that. I remember when the mom from That 70's Show was on and she was so funny. Kate Collins could also get nominated for that role as well. It's all just a freaking mess.
