people are always bringing up this term on SOC & other boards. i notice we don't use the term much here (thankfully lol). what exactly is your definition of a SUPERCOUPLE?? for me it means they have a very, very special spark. even when they are not together...they are. almost everyone loves them.
while i hated it luke & laura were a supercouple. tad & dixie back in the day were a SC. while i adore sonny & carly i don't think they are a SC. i think the role of carly has been cast too often tho MB & TB did have the potential.
i don't consider todd/blair....todd/evangaline....jason/sam....elizabeth/lucky (back when they were young the potential was there...not so much now).
the one couple i see as having the most potential is zach/kendall. they DO have that incredible spark. you root for thm in the hard times & you rejoice in their happiness/cry through their strife. i also, if TK/AM stick around for years, think that this couple could become the new anchor couple......like phoebe/charles, joe/ruth, tad/dixie.
so, your thughts?

I think that Liz and Lucky still have major super couple in them, and if GH manages to make it another 10 or so years they will be a couple that is still around.
And I do think that Blair and Todd have it as well.
I dont know about Sonny and Carly, but Alan and Monica did have it as well. And I always thought that if they had left Felicia around that her and Mac would have made super coupledom.
Now I know you dont watch CBS soaps, or NBC soaps. But Days for instance is riddled with super couples. They have Bo and Hope, John and Marlena, or Marlena and Roman depending on what fan base you are in. They also have Lucas and Sami, Mickey and Maggie, and I believe that Belle and Shawn will reach that point as well.
Young and the Restless has Victor and Vikki, and they had Victoria and Ryan before they went and killed him off. They have Dru and Neil, oh..I dont know if they have more then that...but they do have good ones.
I think the concept of the Supercouple is dead. I really do. Many have tried to create these supercouples, but I think the only real supercouples left standing from good days of Soap opear are Bo and Hope, JOhn and Marlena, Patch and Kayla, etc., and all the ones that were united years ago. I don't believe there has been a supercouple made the last few years. I think the concept is a dead one. People are too quick to apply the label supercouple to couples today, and because of that, the term has lost its effectiveness and become too commonplace.
I'm going to ring in with Jojo on this one. The term supercouple has been bandied around too loosely, especially since McBain has been on OLTL. There have been "supercouples" in the past, but not any more, IMO. Besides, in Llanview, all the half decent pairings get split up and ruined long before they could even qualify.
supercouple is a term tossed about way too casually. it really only applied in the 80's.
like i said....if anyone deserves the title now it's zach/kendall. for the reasons stated above. i would love to see elizabeth/lucky return to their former glory....they did have the potential in their early SLs.

Unfortunately writers have killed most potential super couples. Zach/Kendall are almost the epiomy of a supercouple. Classic ones are Bo&Hope, John & Marlena, Alice/Thomas Horton and Alan&Monica
