So what do you guys think? Is this even a good idea to have going on? Out of the 3 soap stars from the past, only 1 star remains of the 3 winners. And of all of the those contestants that come over into soaps anyways (see Talia from OLTL) not one of them has managed to crack a big role outside of our good friend Del on AMC. What's your opinion?

I suppose it is a decent enough concept. I never watch the show hardly ever and def. not since the first season I think. I do like the one that is on OLTL now playing the female cop. I think she's attractive and is doing a good job.
I don't think it's a bad concept, but it depends on who "wins". The guy on OLTL that played Ted was a disaster and should never have been chosen. I don't get Soapnet up here, so I haven't watched it - just looked at the website a bit back when it was on, and from what little I saw, there were much better candidates forr OLTL. I like the girl playing Talia, so I think there's potential for it to be successful.
i think there is potential. But the people who do the casting arent very good. Alec Musser who plays Del on AMC is a great actor and when he first came on the show had a lot of potential, but since then he has been relegated to being an arm ornament, and a horny bachelor at random scenes at the mansion.
The poor guy who won the first season was a truly talented actor who really got shafted in the role department. They should make it a requirement to give the winner more then just a side kick role.
Hopefully the winner of the next one will have better luck at Days, then again even if he has a great role he still has no shot of ever getting an emmy
didn't have soapnet for the first season so never watched that one. i have watched the others.
it's a good idea in concept. i think the main problem once the winners go to a show is that the writers/producers have not thought through what to do w/these people once they have them.
the guy who went to GH was so flat & boring. the guy who went to OLTL never should have won. the lovely young woman currently on the show should have gotten it....the one who plays talia. alex musser is a truly talented actor but they have cut his balls off by making him a dorky him~bo. i'm hoping the new HW fixes this.
the writers/producers need to have a clearer plan for the winners. they have to have a different plan if a man or a woman wins. i truly believe the only reason the guy who went to OL was chosen b/c they wanted a man in the role. they never considered what to do w/a woman.
i've enjoyed watching the show itself. then again i'm a reality addict lol.

I actually thought the first guy was pretty good. He just got shafted in that story with Jesse and Maxie. They shouldnt bring someone on like that in a good vs. evil storyline. Especially when there are Scorpio's involved. The bad guy didnt have a chance, and so neither did the actor...Most people dont even remember who he was
I like it tto and I agree that the first guy got the shaft. Now if they would pick the righ tpeople I would be happy. I have to say that I disagree with Michael Bruno. Last year he commented that if they allow someone through on beauty over acting ability it will be ok because they can always learn that. I hate to tell him that he's sooo wrong, that's why the Australian girl tanked. I hope to see a few stronger performers this year and a little less focus on appearance.
i'd forgotten about bruno saying that but i do remember thinking WTF??? if they don't have the substance their looks certainly won't save them. that's why last season's winner did so poorly.
while acting classes & experience can fine tune an actor's abilities if they don't have the innate talent it will never work. you can't teach talent.
