okay, after having read this article. I just keep getting madder and madder at our government. I am all for a troup withdrawal. But if the president plans to keep the troups there whether congress stops funding or not is just insane. Someone needs to get their heads out of there asses. I thought the purpose of withdrawing troups was to save them, now they are saying they will cut funding whether the troups are still there or not, how is that saving troups. Its more like killing them.
yes, such bills do seem counterproductive however, i do believe they serve two political goals.
first, these bills send a clear message ~~~ as if he's missed the point up until now ~~~ to bush that the country is fed up w/this useless, senseless war he has involved us in. will he pay attention....hell no. he's a lame duck so he doesn't give a crap.
second, the the congress & senate made promises during the last election. they promised to do their best to get us out of this mess. these bills send a message to their constituents that they are trying.....however futilely at this point to do just that.
they know this won't work & that they don't have the votes for an override of the inevitable veto.
the troops will get their funding. i have faith in that.
as for the tag~a~longs in these bills....that's inevitable. it's just how business is done in our capitol.
