Hiya, I'd like to bring something to my dad's for Easter, anyone got a good recipe for a side or dessert. My family tends to bring alot, but I feel like I have to do something!
Hey, Tina! I make a strawberry shortcake for Easter dessert. I buy the ready made sponge, whip up a 1/2 litre of whipping cream, add some icing sugar and vanilla to it. (Sorry, I don't measure.) Then I cut up my berries and macerate them overnight in lemon juice and more icing sugar. Just before serving, I plop the berries and juice onto the sponge, saving a few whole ones for decoration. Then on goes the cream, topped with the whole berries.
I keep a bottle of Grand Marnier or Cointreau on the table so anybody who'd like can spike their dessert by adding some over the cream. Most people do, except for the kids, of course.
It sounds so silly but I love this strawberry fluff that my aunt makes. I've gotten the recipe before but I don't know for sure where the heck it is lol. It's got chunks of angel food cake with strawberries (the kind you get frozen is best) with some strawberry gello and whipped cream all mixed together. It's awesome stuff and really light because she uses the sugar free jello.
