Okay, I'm all for Phil Carey staying on the show, I think Asa can stick around but he's not appearing on the show a lot, more likely due to his continued health issues then lack of stories. Higley, believe it or not, does seem to actually give a crap about Asa. However, that being said, Carey's health is an issue. So give him a contract why? He's not up to doing what a contract player needs to give in multiple shows a week. Recurring isn't a slap in the face, it's financial responsibility at this point. Once Carey's health gets better you then give him the extension and maybe more then you would have previously.
i agree they shouldnt give him a contract, though I do hope that he gets a good send off... Wish he would have accepted recurring so they could do what GH did with Anna and just bring her out once in awhile.......or like what Days does with alice
He should accept recurring because he isn't on very often nowadays anyway. It's not as if he'll be hired by any other soap at his age and health. If he wants to retire, he should say so.
seems to me Phil Carey has been little more than recurring for the past few years so i truly don't understand his stand on this....other than arrogance on his part. if it was about the work he would accept the recurring status given the fiancial realities.
i know people get in a big kaflamma over the older vets not being seen, but truth be told there isn't much SL for them....at least IMO. why should they be getting contractual money when they only appear once or twice a month or every few months.
