I thought you should know that things are looking bleak for Renee Elise Goldsberry to remain with the show as the indelible Evangeline. As of this moment in time negotiations between Trevor St John (Todd Manning) and the show are also at an impasse. I know that most of you have been following this drama over the past week and unfortunately things are not looking up. Trevor has gone back to the negotiating table again so we have at least a glimmer of hope there however Renee Goldsberry has left the building. This is not a publicity stunt gang. These are negotiations that have not gone well. My understanding is that Renee simply wanted to spread her wings and have a few outs and they felt that was too much to ask (if I sound angry, it's because I am thoroughly disgusted with ABC right now). They just gave this and a whole lot more to a few other performers in recent negotiations and yet they put up a stop sign for one of ABC's biggest and brightest ever. Let's hope that cooler heads prevail and we find that they are picking up these dead negotiations and trying again. In the meantime, I have every reason to believe that Trevor will come to terms with the show however that remains to be seen (we should get word on this any moment). We must wait for official confirmation only on this. They are playing it to close to the vest to trust anything now but official word.
As for Renee, here is what she had to tell TV Guide in a very recent interview that JUST CAME OUT. I'm sorry guys, I wish I had better news but I think someone needs to check the water supply at ABC because there has to be a good explanation for their recent treatment of Phil Carey, Julia Barr, Cady McClain, Erika Slezak, Stuart Damon, Renee Goldsberry, Timothy Stickney and the list goes on. And lets not forget that we had to pull out the big guns to get them to realize how badly the fans wanted to see Catherine Hickland and Hilary Smith actually doing something more then merely serving as window dressing. Two huge fan favorites who sat around twiddling their thumbs while people we could care less about overwhelmed our screens. Not to mention all the newbies being thrown at us like darts each week. Hey Brian, try asking the fans what they want. It's really not that complicated or do you need a focal group to point that one out to you?
same is not true of REG. interview on tv.guide.com she states they are no longer negotiating w/abc. she's planning to be a housewife until..... well until.

I dont know, I read in SOD yesterday that Y&R had actually planned on killing off Nick before Joshua Morrow resigned. Thats why there was talk of casting Victor Jr. They actually had it written out and everything.
You know what, grand scheme, Evangeline could disappear and it wouldn't kill the show. REG will be missed, Evangeline will be missed but it's not going to be some big stab in the heart of the show. Todd was gone for awhile and it didn't kill the show, Evangeline leaving isn't a death blow. And anyone that thinks it is is really fooling themselves.
REG leaves, okay, we'll miss ya. Not we can't replace you with another lawyer for Todd to love. After all, she wasn't the first, any one remember Tea? Yep.

Oh, that's not a bad idea! Victoria Rowell would certainly be a different flavour for Evangeline, but I got the impression that VR wanted to take a break from the whole soap business.
I have to agree that losing REG isn't anything even akin to a death blow for the show. Whether they write her out or leave her in a coma or recast the role, it doesn't matter to me. I watched this soap long before she came to the scene, will continue to watch when she's gone. (Although if I do throw in the towel for a bit because I'm not very happy with it right now, it won't have anything to do with the loss of that character.)
i don't get why eveyone is saying REG is the be all/end all of OLTL either. she's only been there 4yr for heavens sake. truthfully i've never understood all the evangaline worship.

She's talented, don't get me wrong. I'd love to have her stay. No question. However, she's not so important that the show is in mortal danger as everyone seems to think it is.

Well I really liked Vange and i'm gonna miss her (and those mile long GORGEOUS legs of hers) but I agree she's not the core of the show. One less gorgeous femme to stare at though.
I thought perhaps they could recast and Evangeline and Todd would finally get together but it looks like we'll have the T&B reunion, which I could care less one way or the other.
I'd like to see them bring another character then to still be a lawyer, intelligent, gorgeous, and a friend to several characters like Nora and John.... preferable another african american woman because they are so lacking on daytime
