I'm getting a facial, and trying out some spa services.....

My hairdresser changed salons and she is now at a full spa. She has been trying out different procedures and I have been taking her advice and decided to branch out and try some of them myself.

I have an appointment with Svetta on Saturday morning for a facial. She's wonderful, and after her showing me the women in the spa's skin, who are in their late forties, who have been getting the glycolic facials, I have decided to sign up.

I have minimal wrinkles, I swear by my Oil of Olay, Regenerist, but I really want to keep my skin from wrinkling any more than humanly possible. The glycolic is for mature skin, and at 41, I fall into that classification.

Has anyone had any facials done before, and if so, what do you recommend?

I'm also thinking about having my eyelashes dyed. They are on the light short side side and I hate the clumpy mascara look, so I think I'm going to try out that route. It's a veggie dye, and very safe for the eye area. I want to give it a try, and then see how the clear mascara works.

I went the waxing route last Saturday, and I've always had good eyebrows, that require minimal plucking, but I can't believe how good they look. I also had a bikini wax, and it is really not that painful, and is great for the summer when bathing suits become my attire on the weekends floating around the pool, I've been getting those for a few years now.

So any facial input would be greatly appreciated, because I'm in uncharted territories.

Enjoy yourself, Tess! You're going to be nearly comatose after your facial. They're wonderfully relaxing!

Each person has different needs, so it's hard to say from across the internet what you ought to ask for. I would recommend that you go with what the spa recommends. Then, go home and take a nap...

Oh, I love facials, and I'm a bit of a spa junkie. If your spa has a Vichy sauna, go for it! It's amazing for all skin, not just he face. Every place has their own specialties, so go with what they recommend, just as Moore said. They'll take one look at you and know which treatment would be most beneficial.

Another huge favourite of mine is a pedicure followed by a reflexology treatment. Actually, it's sort of in the middle of it, before the polish goes on. A good reflexologist can have you asleep in the chair, then totally rejuvenated a while later. The health benefits are amazing, too.

I had my eyelashes dyed, but it was really a waste of money for me. I still used mascara for depth and realised that spending $40 on a really good mascara was worth it. No clumping at all even after 2 coats. Lancome makes a good one. Let me know how the dyeing works for you, okay?
