I played my tape in about 15 minutes, fast forwarded through most of it. The scenes of Todd quivering on the floor of that filthy apartment ....just UGH. And then just as Jessica was about to tell Antonio that she was leaving him for Nash, she collapsesd. Nope - nothing to say about it really. Just UGH.
ok, call me horrible but I am looking forward to this illness with Jessica. I am morbid....like all the stories where people are dying or are really sick.
Not lupus, hepatitis C, apparently. She's to have contracted it as Tess, symptom-free until liver damage occurs. She'll need a liver transplant, or a partial one from Natalie, I guess.
brandon, i dont think Viki had lupus...Megan did..and I actually dont mind this story....It gives us a chance to see Natalie with her family for a change instead of sniffing around JOhn all the time
Oh, and TV Guide says Jessica will be diagnosed with liver cancer on May 17. She has memories of shooting up heroin with one of Tess's one night stands. Nice.
See, this is just one of the many reasons this show has lost its appeal to me. Jessica has been ruined. It reminds me of how Ashley on Y&R was destroyed when she stole Victor's sperm to conceive her daughter. From that point on, the character of Ashley Abbott was nothing more than a sperm stealing liar. I can't see how Jessica can be redeemed after this, and the potentially great love story is out the window.
Higley has a knack for doing this to her characters in the most obnoxious way, and I resent it enough to stop watching. Granted, I still DVR the episodes, but getting through an entire one has become a chore. I ask myself why bother when I am consistently grossed out, if not by the creature known as Todd, the snivelling vicitim, then by Nash and Jess and desk sex. I hate stories of this type of infidelity, the denegration of leading characters.
Higley could have written a love story for Nash and Jess without all the gratuitous, idiotic sex scenes (fire, rainstorm, office). There should have been a poignant, tortmented love thing happening between these two until Jessica could find the courage to come clean with Antonio, then get it on in full force with Nash. But no. It just had to be this disgusting mess, the total destruction of Viki's daughter, for what? So the story could really be all about Antonio?
Higley has done a fine job of turning what used to be the most intelligent and thought-provoking soap into a tawdry, shallow cartoon.
That's kind of weird becasue heroin is supposed to be really addicting and yet Tess only did it once, Jess didn't have to go to any kind of rehab. I hate when they rewrite stuff.
Shelly, I'm not worried about Jessica's illness ruining her, it's the affair with Nash that does. I find it really out of character that she'd sleep around on her husband, notwithstanding that she loves the other guy. Nor do I find her having sex with Nash "Tess-like" because as I posted somewhere else here, Tess loved Nash and would never have cheated on him. It's just a mess of event hopping, and it bugs me.
The way I think Jessica would have handled her falling in love with another man is that she might have a few stolen kisses, but she wouldn't have sex with him until she had ended her marriage.
When Viki slept with Sloan, still married to Clint, their marriage was in deep trouble, and both knew it. At least we could see Viki fall into another man's arms because of all the conflict she was going through with her husband. But in Jess's case, Antonio barely senses what's actually going on and he thinks things with Jessica are fixable.
As you can tell (ahem), I take a very dim view of cheating. I get that sometimes it's understandable and forgiveable in real life, and I'd like my soaps to have the same feeling when we see it. I'd like it to fall in line with who the characters have been. Take Nick and Phyllis for example. Their steamy affair was believable, understandable and good soap. I'm just saying that Jessica wouldn't do this. She'd end her marriage first.
ooh, well written kae...and i totally agree about the cheating thing. Thats why i was hoping that it would be Antonio who would ruin the marriage. I dont mind hating him.
I don't have a problem with Jessica cheating because she is not 100% Jessica. Tess would have cheated on Antonio in a heart beat, and Jessica is alot of Tess now.
I think though, that Tess/Jess would have left Antonio, not get all wishy washy with telling him that she wants to leave him
I never thought I could condone cheating, but lately can understand it a little better.
