Summer is officially here

So this means I probably won't be around a lot. Cody had his first ball game last night (they won), and then there are ball games all weekend. It's a tournament so we don't know the exact schedule. I kind of hope they lose because we were planning on having Cody's birtday party on Sunday at 4:30, but if they win one or both of the games we go into other games on Sunday which throws a major wrench in the plans. I'm ticked though because we barely had any time to plan. Of course we have practice tonight also. I had to warn my son though because he started to get attitude at the game last night because he isn't playing the position he wanted to play, and I'm not going to have one of those kids. He kinda dug his own hole, because he played first and third last year and played it well, but this year he decided he wanted to catch out of the blue. Well, they already have their catcher so he's been putting all this time into a position for which he will only be playing relief. Of course he has my grandfather's hot headedness and was so ticked about not playing infield that he struck out his first time to bat, and then just kept the I'm angry attitude for the whole game.

The husband is tikcing me off too. I guess I'm just extra bitchy right now or something, but I was trying to talk to Cody on the way home from the game and every time I started talking, I got interrupted. Oh you guys have no idea how angry it makes me to get interrupted. I take it for as long as I can and then I just plain blow my top. Well, every time I'd start to say something I got interrupted and it was stuff that would have really helped cody because I've played ball since I was 7. I'd be playing ball right now if the situation would arise. However, Mr. I've never played baseball in my entire life decided his words were more important, and when I finally told him I'm getting sick of being interrupted (I was actually not nice and didn't blow up) he got ticked at me. OHHHHHHHH that ticks me off even more! I was nice enough to not blow up on him, and he got mad at me for not liking being interrupted. Wow how did I get on this topic lol.

Argh! Team sports can be a trial, that's for sure. We never encouraged our kids to participate because they were so involved in skiing that there wasn't any need for other sports, but my youngest really wanted soccer and baseball, so I did the soccer-mom thing for years. He eventually quit the little league baseball team because there was so much pressure and it wasn't fun any more.

we've been busier with Zach in Soccer, Gabi in ballet having a recital coming up, and Ryan graduating 8th grade. Lots of people's parties to attend, and his birthday is June 1 too!
crazy couple of weeks

And this ballet recital is costing a small fortune, really making me upset! The lessons themselves are affordable, but for this end of year program, we need costumes, pictures, tickets, etc. It's madness I tell ya!

OH Tina I feel you so much. The costumes are unbelievab le aren't they? My mom had me in tap, hih-hop, jazz, ballet, and tumbling. Luckily the tap, jazz, and tumbling would sometimes be the same outfit just with parts that you take off or add, but that wasn't always the issue. Good luck is all Ican say about that lol.

I know this will sounds AWFUL, but I hope Jackson doesn't get into the sports thing. I know it can be good and all, but if he does play, I want to make sure it's in an environment where they teach kids that winning is not the most important thing. But in today's age, that's impossible.
But, I will help him do what he wants to do.

Jojo, I had the same reaction to sports teams for my boys, so we encouraged them to pursue individual sports like skiing, fencing, swimming, and then made sure that they all knew how to play well at least one musical instrument. Two boys took up trumpet, the third couldn't because he had braces on his teeth, so he went with reeds and studied saxaphone and later, guitar.

Now all three of them really enjoy their music and play in community bands, night clubs, whatever, just for the fun of it. Music helps a lot in math, too. Kids that study music do much better in maths than the kids that don't (in elementary years). If you start them early, say by grade 3, before most schools have a music programme, all the better.

Yep, it costs a fortune for all the private lessons, but it's really worth it. It is a bit painful in the early years listening to them practise, especially the trumpet, but they get past it fairly soon, and before you know it, they're playing beautifully, enjoying it, joining bands and orchestras, making friends with other kids with similar interests, and staying out of trouble because they're too darned busy.

My son takes guitar lessons, ever other week, and he plays the tuba in school. I'm hoping for a scholarship for that tuba!

He really picked up quickly, they said he's a natural

And I'd like to get Zach in music too, it's so good for their little brains!!

I think music is an excellent idea, Kae. Jackson is also really into drawing and being creative, so I'm really encouraging that.
