The chef is a total bastard, and spends most of his time on camera making sarcastic remarks to the competitors, or screaming at them.
They're under a lot of pressure to serve actual people in a restaurant setting. It's hugely stressful...
In the end, however, whoever manages to be left standing has learned a lot, and can probably perform under the most difficult circumstances, in any restaurant.

yes, chef ramsey is a total prick (not a word i use very often). he's hideous to the compete tors & the competition is fierce. last season the winner got to manage her own restaurant in las vegas. the finale was a real nail biter lol.

Okay, we watched Hell's Kitchen last night for the first time. The guy is ruthless! I'll tape the next few episodes so I can catch them later - husband didn't like the show at all. It's a bit too frenetic for him.
And Happy Anniversary, Moore! Did you and hub have a nice evening out?
I absolutely love the show, I hate reality tv, but I love anything that has to do with cooking. And Ihave to say that while i agree Chef Ramsey is a prick I dont blame him and happen to think that most chefs in his shoes would be the same way....
I hated how all the girls acted last night...so petty.
Yeah, I wasn't impressed by what the girls did, either.
And I can understand Ramsey's harshness too, to an extent. I used to do a lot of catering for parties and when I had help, I was really fussy about the details. If you overcook a potato even 2 minutes, handle filo pastry the wrong way, keep the kitchen too warm...all these little things make a huge difference to how things turn out. And if you earn a living doing it, it's even more crucial that things are perfect.
Once, I had a meltdown because one helper left her apron on the back of a dining room chair and I had just finished setting it to perfection, lol. I'm glad those days are behind me now. Also grateful for Costco hor d'oeuves.
yeah, you had a meltdown at a catering event...imagine trying to find a chef for a 5 star restaurant...Thats a lot of money down the tubes if the wrong person makes it through...Besides if as a chef you cant handle chef ramsey yelling how will you handle customers yelling
there was one guy, I cant remember his name. I think it will be a guy. Though I have to say I was quite irritated with how the other girls talked down to the one who worked at Waffle House. I mean sure the food is different. But the stress level is exactly the same
Yeah, I am a Food Network addict and they have a friendlier version of Hells Kitchen going on right now...but even when Chef Irvine came on he wasnt the nicest person....
and I imagine even famous chefs like Emeril have their days when things dont go right in the kitchen. You cant blame them, thats a lot of money on the line.
I too like Chef Ramsey, he did an interview with one of the celeb mags last season and he was really cool. He has a pretty wife and a couple of really cute kids.
and if you ever catch his show on Bravo, he doesnt cuss as much
Last nights Hell's Kitchen was awesome..I am surprised at the people who were kicked off though. They should have just let that one guy go home when he said he wanted to. Im glad they sent the little guy home, I liked the other guy. I am rooting for the guys in this one, but they really need to clean up their act.
And kudos to the girls for getting things done...I wish they would give more credit to Waffle House girl...she kicked ass with that fish.
We did have a nice night out -- the next night -- but we had our son, our youngest daughter, and her houseguest tagging along with us! LOL...
However, we went to one of our favorite little French restaurants (our kids have virtually grown up there), and had a lovely night. Great food, and great company!
Three days later, my husband was having his spinal surgery... There were a few minor little blips, but he's doing very well now, and the surgery apparently worked since his hands and arms feel normal now. YAY!
