Stole this from MySpace postings but thought it'd be cool if everyone here posted it:
Okay so copy and paste this and put an X next to your own fears and then total them up and give the number at the end.

Total - 6 It's not so much that I fear spiders, just really don't like them, kill them when I can, especially inside my house.
My needles thing is I just don't like to see 'em go inside me. Very uncomfortable. Ghosts, I just don't wanna come close to encountering one in a darkened room, and the dark and heights thing is edge of heights and extreme dark like can't see your hand dark.

Honestly I've been stuck in those predicaments where you face your fears, I think after doing so it really makes things less scary.

Okay, that's seven fears, but several are related. Yes, I'm pathetic!

They don't scare me. Frustrate me? Yes. Make me glad that I don't know some of them in real life? Yes. Sometimes make me pour an extra glass of wine at night? Yes, but I rather enjoy that!
But, they don't scare me...
(A belated Happy Birthday, by the way. Those scary posters keep me so busy that I miss stuff!)

Not from this group, anyway, Jess, lol. My middle son bungee jumped from the top of the world's deepest gorge when he was in Nepal last year, said it was good training for his skydiving later in New Zealand. I have no idea how I gave birth to the likes of that boy.

My son is the same way, he'll do any carnival ride or roller coaster, and I am so afraid of heights. I have a theory it's how secure we made them feel when they were very young.
His dad was a bit of a vagabond between undergraduate and graduate school. He travelled for a year following winter, skiing all over the world. then got his instructors certificate, went to Quebec to teach there, and that's where I met him - he was my instructor at Mt. Tremblant. But he never went to any jump courses while in the army because he knew if he did, they'd have sent him to active duty somewhere nasty. But he wanted to. So yep, I guess it's a natural thing for my sons.
As for rides at a carnival - even the idea of a merry-go-round makes my legs turn to jelly, lol. And forget about a ferris wheel or a roller coaster! Funny too, because I never minded riding in gondolas or chair lifts. But I vividly remember one chair lift in Alta, Utah that scared the daylights out of me. It was a single lift, no safety bar, went straight up, high over craggy, barren rocks with sharp points, AND it tilted forwards, so that if you didn't grab hard on the bar attached to the cable, off you'd go to the rocks below. I only took that lift the once. Then there was the time in Snow Bird that a little kid barfed in the super-crowded tram. Not a fan of heights these days.

That could be the case, but I have acquired fears that I never had when I was younger. For example, there's a bridge from Cornwall, Ontario over the St. Lawrence, to someplace in NY state that we had to drive over many times when my oldest boy was in school in New Hampshire. Then one February, while making the journey to see him in a concert, there was a horrible blizzard, and I begged my husband to turn back, but of course he wouldn't, and we crossed the bridge anyway. I could never take that route after that night. We had to cross in Ogdensburg, adding a good 30 minutes to the 8 hour drive.
There is a bridge down in Virginia that I went over last thursday actually....Its practically in the middle of the ocean...it goes into a tunnel that goes under the ocean, and far enough under that a ship can go over it...It is one of 2 such bridge/tunnels like that in VA....it didnt bother me until my friend told me that this particular bridge gets shut down sometimes because the wind gets so strong that it will blow a car right off of it....which in itself is scary but she told me that last winter or sometime a semi-truck actually went over (the guy survived)...now that scares me....and the worst part is that you have to pay 12 bucks to go on it...that did scare me a little
the GW bridge in New York scares me but only because people in NY are maniacs who drive too fast
Shelly, we took that bridge tunnel a few years back, can't remember where we were heading that trip. I'm sure happy I didn't know about the dangerous part at the time. That's the stuff nightmares are made of!
yeah, or having a ship go over it and the tunnel collapsing...eek...scary....And I need to go through at least one of those tunnels to see my girl friend...I am hoping to actually get stationed down there next time up....
and I dont know about wild ponies...I may need to look into it though..I love horses, and jolene loves the ponies too
Only a couple of weeks ago, we had a terrible accident on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. I don't know if it made the national news or not...
This is the bridge that Washingtonians take to the Eastern shore of Maryland. It's a little over 4 miles long...
The recent accident involved five vehicles, and two or three people were killed. An SUV was hauling a flatbed truck, with another vehicle on top, but hadn't properly safety-chained the flatbed to the SUV. It came unhooked.
Because the accident happened towards the end of the bridge, everyone who was already on it was completely stuck! Everyone was stranded for about six hours, with no ability to turn around!!! Can you imagine?
The GOOD news is that the truck hit the guard rails on both sides of the road, and they both held firm. But, seriously, I cannot imagine watching a horrible accident unfold right in front of you, as a driver, and know that there is no shoulder to pull onto, and nothing but the Chesapeake Bay underneath!
This is one of those bridges that people have to be driven across, and some have even been known to crawl into the trunks of their cars for the trip across because they can't stand even the possibility of looking out!
Go to this link, and scroll down for some pictures. There's a nice aerial view towards the bottom of the page.

That story (ski lift) literally made my feet tingle!! EEEK
