A man doing market research knocked on a door and was greeted by a young woman with three small children running around at her feet.
He says, "I'm doing some research for Vaseline. Have you ever used the product?"
She says, "Yes. My husband and I use it all the time."
"And if you don't mind me asking, what do you use it for?"
"We use it for sex."
The researcher was a little taken back. "Usually people lie to me and say that they use it on a child's bicycle chain or to help with a gate hinge. But, in fact, I know that most people do use it for sex. I admire you for your honesty. Since you've been frank so far, can you tell me exactly how you use it for sex?"
The woman says, "I don't mind telling you at all. My husband and I put it on the door knob and it keeps the kids out."
So how is everyone doing. The weather here is nice, though I suspect it may rain...so who else called me yesterday afternoon...I got a missed call that almost looks like it was out of the country. Numbers started with three 0's..
Nice weather here, too. The windows are wide open and A/C off, so that's a good start. Doggies have a 1 p.m. poodle parlour appointment, husband's off for the day, so he's around, and at the moment is taking the garbage and recycle stuff to the curb. I'm having my cup of coffee, just got out of bed twenty minutes ago.
Yesterday I babysat from 3:15 to 7 and Vanessa cried for her mommy for the first 2 hours. I finally distracted her with the story of the chickadees pooping on nanny's car. Then Ted came over and we all ate pizza. When we got home, we sat outdoors until the neighbour started mowing and the noise sent us back inside to watch garbage on the tube and I don't even remember what it was. I made up my dad's shopping list, organised our own, spoke to the agency about the lock box on my parents' door for the care-giver and fell into bed around midnight.
Tony's in Minneapolis, Mike's in Denver and Nick has a new job in Surfers' as the night watchman for the hostel that he and Laura are living in. He hates it there, wants to get to Vietnam asap, but Laura's job is so profitable, they feel the need to stay put for a while.
I'll try to get as many of Saturday's errands done today as possible after we take the dogs in, visit my mother, fix my father's barbecue (not me, but Ted will, and I'll be there too).
The phone has rung, long distance, twice in the last five minutes...nobody there. Damn annoying.
And Shelly, I never did watch my OLTL tape yesterday, sorry.
Oh goodie - I'll run my tape just for him.. Busy day, and I'm off now. Have a wonderful long weekend everybody!
Oh, and for you Y&R watchers, the biggest thing today was Daniel getting arrested while he was in a strip bar for not showing his ID straightaway, calling Amber to bail him out, Phyllis getting the mega cold shoulder form all the Newmans, and Kevin plotting to give himself injuries to flush Jana out as he lay on his "deathbed". In previews, Kevin smashes his car into a tree to Lily's horror.
I think that this will be the last gasp of Lily and Daniel, and it really does look like there's going to be a Kevin and Colleen hook up.
ugh...Kevin and Colleen. I would hate to be over on the SOC Y&R board today. SO many people hate the idea. I saw todays Y&R and LOVE Victor...and why on earth does Brad think that he will get custody of a Newman??
Here we go talking about Y&R on a non-soap thread again, lol! But yep, Brad's such an impossible jerk, wanting to claim rights to a Newman kid.
One thing that's really bugging me about Y&R right now is the pregnancy s/l for JT and Victoria. I understand that the writers needed to deal with the real life pregnancy and all, but it would have been better to have given it a bit longer to develop. And then Victoria said she was all of 2 weeks pregnant the other day. Groan...
The Kevin and Colleen thing doesn't bother me anywhere near as much as I thought it might. I loved the professor love story, and I'm sorry to see it pretty much evaporate along with Ji Min and Jill, but I don't feel like bitching about this soap when my other once fave has taken such a nose dive (OL).
And speaking of OLTL, the David and Viki scenes the past two days were so much fun, it reminded me of why I tuned into OL for so many years. And as silly as a romance between those two is, faked or for real (as David recommended) at least it was entertaining, which is more than I can say for the disastrous mess they made out of the Nash and Jessica thing. I loved it when David said to Dorian that he's been "working his way up" to a romance with Viki. Har! He really is priceless.
