Canada Day and everyone's away!

Argh, a huge national holiday weekend and all my kids are far away. Tony left with his little family for Connecticut and then Boston for 10 days yesterday, Mike's still in Denver and Nick and Laura are down under, slaving away at a cafe to save money for Bali. My mother came home for the long weekend, so my husband and I will be there later today and tomorrow to try to put some festivity into this holiday for them but I miss my kids so much.

We usually hold a big barbecue picnic this time of year, invite our family and friends to spend the day, then some trundle off around 10 to go down to the lake for the fireworks displays. But not this year, I'm afraid. And I got word that my dear old friend lost her mother in Halifax on the 29th, so she won't be around either.

Anyway, Happy 4th of July to you all, and warm wishes for Canada Day as well. Hope everybody's weekend is a great one.

KaeEll, I am sorry to hear that it was so quiet around for your holiday.

Happy Canada Day!

We had my mother at her house (with a nurse) for the long weekend and just took her back to the rehab hospital. We had a couple of barbecue dinners at their house, took her out for drives, that kind of thing. It was quiet for us, but 2 sets of neighbours had parties and one is still going on. It feels sort of lonely and my husband is in need of his anti-asshole remedy which I'll get into him before dinner. He had me in tears a little while ago.

I really miss my kids. Sometimes I'm grateful to have them out of my hair for a while, but this thing with my parents, all the worry and such, has me kind of vulnerable. And weepy.

Thanks for being here!

Did I ever tell you about the neighbours (the ones still having a party) who play polka and Kenny G music really loud? Annoying as all get-out! So I put on some John Coltrane and that made them turn their &*^@ down. grrrrr

Sorry about the hubby! I had hoped he'd mellowed with age. I bought that stuff, couldn't get one out of the bottle for the life of me!

Kids can be great sometimes! Give us a call.

we had a battle of the bands one year in our neighborhood (not us) but two neighbors each had bands, one was a mexican mariache' band (sp) and the other rock and roll, they got louder and louder, I suppose someone finally called the cops

He took the remedy as soon as I gave it to him, and within a couple of minutes was back to his "good guy" self. I honestly don't even want to think about what my life would be like without that stuff!

Nux Vomica, 30 C. It's a homeopathic remedy most frequently marketed as a stomach upset remedy. But Nux is a polycrest and has lots of other uses.

If you go to a health store and ask for it, the clerk might ask why you want it (they're mostly idiots), so never tell them. Just say it's for an upset tummy after eating or drinking too much. It's also an excellent hangover remedy (that is if you didn't REALLY overdo it).

For the ill effects of staying up much too late for a good cause (like sitting with a sick friend or cramming for an exam), take Arnica. For staying up too late for a bad reason, use Nux.

Some places are using a new name for the remedy - Columbria. Same thing.

One bottle will cost about $6 or $7 and will last you years and years. I use just 2 pellets in a large glass of spring water. One dose lasts for weeks on end and it takes effect within minutes.
