(SoapOperaNetwork.com) -- The revolving door continues.
Since the end of May, "Days of our Lives" has had a continuous revolving door -- and that tradition continues.
After being absent for six months and much speculating based on her last appearance on December 26, 2006, Frances Reid disspells rumors that doctor's orders required her to leave the show for her health's sake when she appeared as fiery and warm as ever as beloved matriarch Alice Horton this past fourth of July. Rest easy, "Days" fans!
The DiMera brood, just returned, is already suffering from shake-ups! According to Soap Opera Weekly, it seems Steve Blackwood, who returned on May 31st, has been axed from the show. Though no final airdate has been announced, viewers on the net suspect that he'll learn that André - who is revealed on July 17th with Thaao Penghlis once again playing dual roles - has been masquerading as Tony. It wouldn't be the first time. André was last played by Thaao Penghlis in 1984, when he masqueraded as both Roman and Tony, framing Roman for the Salem Slasher murders and taking over cousin Tony's life, dying in quicksand. Despite this, André was said to have died in Tony's place in Aremid when Thaao Penghlis returned to "Days" in 2002, having been rescued from the quicksand at the very last moment. Whether André will first appear on the 17th, or has been masquerading as Tony all along remains to be seen. Stay tuned!
Meanwhile, the vendetta story heats up as the truth of Colleen Brady's death comes to light, and her romance with Santo is played out on-screen. More dual roles, this time for Alison Sweeney (Sami) and James Scott (EJ), and both have to pick up difficult accents and strut their stuff - Sweeney with an Irish accent and Santo with an Italian one, respectfully.
"Touch the Sky" airlines is the big summer story for the younger set, and was recently revealed to have connections to the DiMeras. Danielle, Jett's cheating fiancee debuted in the form of Denise Boutte on July 3rd, and on July 27th, Jerry Springer guests as a high roller (not himself) who teaches Nick (Blake Berris) a few things about gambling, according to NBC.com
