my temper tantrum today

I had to run to walmart for 3 items today, made the decision to take my dog along as it was about 74 outside and breezy and I knew I'd be quick

well just as I pull up some nosy bitch makes a comment about my dog being in the car. And I said that it's not that Hot, etc, etc. Well she then proceeds to tell me I have no common sense which really makes my blood boil. So I kept telling her to Fuck off, but she wouldn't stop blabbering on and on. You'd think it was 100 degrees out or something. And let me just say that besides my children, I love my dog more than anything else. I would never take a chance on his precious little life!

So finally I told her to shove her Coach purse up her ass, and she actually left me alone!

I wish I could control my anger, and yet I'm glad I stand up for myself!

Plus I am totally PMS' ing today, so I have that as an excuse.... ;)

I understand that it can be a good thing when people step in to help others, but you can take one look at me and see that I'm not the stupid, white trash type of person to kill their own dog in their vehicle. Hello! hmm.gif

I guess I am not a good one to stop in and say I dont blame you. Because I grew up in Phoenix hearing all the statistics about how hot it can get inside your care even when its not hot outside.

They actually had some kind of thing a few weeks ago where a woman sat chained to a tree to protest people who chain up their dogs outside in the heat. I am a huge advocate for anything that could potentionally hurt a pet.

Actually when we do our little cross country trip next month I think we are getting tranqs for the dog so that she isnt so uncomfortable all day long.

One day, several years ago, we received a surprise visit from a couple who happened to be in the neighbourhood and popped in for a hello. We asked them in and I put the kettle on. A few minutes later, the doorbell rang and it was a stranger ranting and screaming at me that there was a baby in the car in the front of our house. She would not leave until our unexpected visitors went out to their car and took their baby out! We had no idea that their newborn infant was in their car!

So yeah, Tina, people can be pretty insistent when things like that happen.

Good call on the tranqs, Shelly. And lots of comfort stops for poochie, too. I use gravol for my dogs when they have had to ride for long periods. Not only does it keep them from throwing up, it can put them to sleep, too.

yeah she is a big dog so hopefully she will be okay. We already made the decision to stop at rest stops instead of places like McDonalds for potty breaks just so the dog, and the 2 kids can run around a little. We are HUGE dog people in our family. And Chemi (the dog) is what Sharon calls her divorce dog...so she must come. And Sharon has heard too many horror stories about dogs dying because their owners had them shipped and the stupid people at the airports leave them out on the tarmac without water (a big no no in AZ). So she is coming with us.

And I cant believe someone would just leave their baby in the car alone. Aside from the heat/cold factor what if someone stole their car...oh, thats just too scary.

Well I weighed my decision carefully, if I should bring the dog or not. Some days are too Hot, today was just fine. breezy with the windows down, and like I said I only need a few items, my entire shopping experience lasted 8 minutes tops.

If it was any hotter, I would have left the dog at home. I'm not an idiot, and I feel that this lady could have figured that out by looking at me. And then she wouldn't let up. Like when I said I was only going in for one item, she just would not let up.

I feel like people think they can talk down to me and that pisses me off. If I say I know what I'm doing then she should have accepted that. I was seriously going to tell her to stop harrassing me or I would call the police on her.

OH and guess what my dog did when we got home, did he rush to his water bowl, no, he went and laid in the patch of sun that comes thru my window!!

Scary, and stupid!! And the father of the baby is a lawyer and the mother an investment banker. You'd have thought they'd know better.

Nope, I'd NEVER ship a dog on a plane! When we flew back here from California, I kept my dog on my lap in the airplane and covered her with a blanket. Nobody even know I'd taken her out of the kennel that was supposed to stay under the seat. Good thing she was little. And I did that several times, too! Her name was Mutzie Mathilda Pie, so her kennel label read "Miss MMPie". But I don't think people can do that any longer. It was a long time ago.

Hey Tina, I didn't see your last post when I was answering Shelly. I was on the phone with my d-i-l for half an hour while I had started the post.

Anyway, the lady that gave you a hard time probably had witnessed a bad result from leaving a little one in a car and she was a bit rabid about it. She could have offered to stay with the car with the windows cracked on all sides until you got back if that would have made her feel any better.

It's a good thing that you really did run in and out of the store quickly. Too bad the woman wouldn't take you at your word.

good call Kae, if she was so worried she should have offered to stay and watch the dog. While I understand why some people may get a little upset about things like that..but she should have stopped to listen for a second

and kae, our dog is WAY to big to be smuggled onto a plane. We are driving anyways and Sharon has a Jeep Cherokee, so there should be plenty of room for us.

Wow, not a great way to start off the day. Unfortunately there are not as many level headed individuals out there as you Tina, and the news these days seems to be full of tragic stories about people leaving their children and pets inside of cars in the hot summer temperatures.

If I take Tess with me on an errand, I leave all of the car windows down, and she just hangs out, but in the summer I really limit to a quick trip down the road to fill the car up with gas, or to run into the convenience store. Once the cooler temperatures come she's with me on all of my errands, and she loves it. I joke that it is the only way that I can get her down the road.... riding in the car.

I hope that tomorrow is a better day!

Sophia
