Happy Thursday!

How is everyone doing on this fine Thursday? I am working from home today, thank goodness! Work has been absolutely insane this week. I had some awful news yesterday. My boss gave his notice. I absolutely adore working for him, and it will be a huge loss to our company. As if work was not already crazy enough, now myself and another woman that I work with have to absorb his work, until someone can be hired to take his place, and it is a really tough skill set to fill. His last day is going to be August 7, so it does not look promising for any potential time off in August.

I am trying to take tomorrow off, to start working on my fence repairs, I do not know how realistic that will be, it really depends upon how much work I can get completed today. Hopefully, if I have to work tomorrow, it will just be for a few hours, and I am definitely not driving into the office. So at least I do not have to do the commute into Boston until next Monday again.

I'll touch bases with you all later, I'm off to plug in my computer, and begin my productive employee act!

Sophia

Today is the big day for my mother as we are going to be bringing her home after four months in hospital. I'll pick up my husband from the subway sometime around five, then head straight up to West Park Health Care Centre and collect her and all the stuff, drive her home. The live-in arrives tomorrow morning at 10:30.

I bailed out on a lunch date with an old friend so that I'd have the brain space to organise the next few days of settling in for mom and Indira (the girl from Guyana), and of course my father, who as I've told you all, is not exactly cooperative.

It's a stormy day and hot. The coffee's almost ready, dogs have been out and I'll hop into the shower in a few.

Tess I feel bad for you losing a good boss, that is always a scary situation

We had 4 inches of rain in one night, watch out everyone out East, it usually heads your way next.

we needed the rain, and the storms were something else. Lots of lightening

I'm meeting my m-i-l today just for a walk thru a mall I haven't been in a while, hopefully she won't get on my nerves too much, haha

Wow, it sounds like everyone has a busy day on their plates!

KaeEll, I hope that everything goes smoothly with your mother, and I am so happy for you that she has met this wonderful milestone in her recovery!

Shelly, that's great that Vinny is coming home! I'll bet that his girls are busy everything just perfect!

Tina, Have fun with your m-i-l. That whole word makes me shutter! I have had three that made me want to run for the hills!

I'm being a very productive employee today. My lawn service was just here, and put down my latest application of drugs for my lawn. That rain that Tina mentioned, had better stay away for a few days! I need to dig some holes tomorrow, and fix some fence posts! Along with my fertilizer doesn't need to wash away!

Happy Thursday!

Congratulations, KaeEll, on getting your mother back home. FINALLY...!!! What an ordeal this has been for all of you.

Tess, if it rains for you tomorrow, that ought to be long enough for your lawn to have ingested and savored savored its drugs. It will also make for easier digging! I'm sorry about your boss situation, though...

PS: KaeEll, I have been MEANING to tell you that I thought of you when my daughter was hospitalized a few weeks ago. There weren't any signs on her private bathroom door saying that I couldn't use it, but she was sleeping and I didn't want the noisy FLUSH to wake her. I ventured out into the hallway to find a restroom, but it wasn't where I had anticipated it would be. A nurse arrived at that moment, and asked if I needed any help. I told her that I was looking for a restroom, and she directed me to one. Here's when I thought of you: She said, "There's a restroom right over there. It's for STAFF, but you can go ahead and use it."

LOL!!! I was grateful that your micromanaging BEE-OTCH nurse wasn't anywhere around at the time!

Thanks for the good wishes! We're about to launch into a whole new era.

Tess, we aren't allowed to put ANYTHING on our lawns any longer. The city banned everything but completely organic fertilizers and NO weed control whatsoever. So we all spend May and June out digging up dandelions manually. Grass seed is a big seller as people have learned to overseed to choke out broadleaf weeds. Nor can we water our lawns more than twice a week and for three hours at a time. As a result, most lawns don't look all that fabulous, but at least our water table supply is getting cleaner.

Shelly, have a wonderful reunion with Vinnie! And Tess, so sorry about the boss. His replacement might be a good one though, so hold out some hope.

I'm watching Y&R live this morning in between folding the laundry and making lists for my parents.

Hah, Moore! I just saw your edited-in comment about the restroom at the hospital.

As it turned out, Jane, the occupational therapist that screamed at me that day, helped me more than I could have imagined! She and I had a long talk one day a few weeks ago and she was so supportive in the struggle to get my father to accept that mother would need full time help, AND that she must be sent home! She is even going to come to my parents' home to help me rearrange some of the furniture to make it safer for my teetery mom to get around.

I didn't mention to her a thing about that day in the rotunda when she went off like a banshee. I'm sure she remembered, and I'll never forget it. It might have been a bad day for her. Apparently, as one of the nicer nurses told me, that particular washroom had become quite an issue. And yes, they had been directing visitors to it!

I have only one last trip to that place at the end of this afternoon. I can't tell you how much I hate that drive along a busy 6 lane street with cars going 65 klicks and so much aggression on the road. And the long walk from the parking lot to the entrance in rain and wind, the expensive parking fees, the gas, all the worry, mom's loneliness and boredom.....What a crappy few months this has been. I'm counting down the hours.
