Technically, it's still Wednesday night, but I wanted to get the good morning thread up and running so I can say hi to everyone! I hope you all have a wonderful day!
The guy who told me to go f**k myself Tuesday got suspended Wednesday morning for three days without pay. I feel kind of bad, but I'm also worried that he's going to make work a living hell for me while I'm still there when he gets back. He's a grumpy old coot and can be very yucky to deal with. It also probably cost him that chance at the switch to the other beat he was asking for. Oh well. He was totally unprofessional, and I said nothing to him that warranted him telling me that. My boss told me he believed I was victimized, and he wasn't going to stand for it. I don't feel victimized, so to speak, I just wanted him to get a stern talking to or something.
Think of me today when I'm writing stories on the garbage collection fees, the rainy weather's effect on the interstate reconstruction project and on the city's search for a new city manager. Fun stuff! BLAH!
Garbage fees are a good idea, if you ask me. If people recycled and reused, they could keep their garbage output to less than a whole black bag every two weeks, and anything more than that ought to be charged for removal. Of course, the communities would need to have a comprehensive recycling programme in place, environment days when you can take things like styrofoam and metals, old computers, fluorescent lights, etc., so that the only things going into garbage bins would be dirt, hair, those vile dryer sheets (Bounce), and broken toys.
Jojo, if it's of any help, go to the city of Toronto main page and check out our recycling gigs. Garbage fees have been on the table here for quite a while. I'm all for it!
Shameful admission...our town presently has garbage trucked to a dump somewhere in Michigan. Bad situation, and shameful. For some stupid reason, we have not yet built an incinerator. Germany designed an excellent model years ago and it has been copied in many European cities. That's the solution, IMHO.

I must have missed something what happend at work? I feel bad we always have alot of garbage and I don't even know what we throw away, but we do recycle everything we can!
we only get a trash day once a week and on most weeks we dont even need to take it out. So we are in good shape. The housing we live in isnt very good for recycling. But we do what we can.
How is everyones Friday. Jojo I gotta remember to write down your number. Its in my inbox I just havent written it down yet. By our calculations we will be driving through Texarkana on Wednesday.
We need to STOP IT with the bottled water in our household!
I always thought that those people who carried around bottled water were just pretentious, and refused to do so for years. I mean, we PAY for water to flow into the house, so why not pull out a glass and drink from that? For portable water, there are portable (washable) containers!
At some point, my husband got hooked, and began bringing those bottles into the house. I refused to drink them...
What happened is that I tend to get thirsty in the middle of the night, so ONE NIGHT I decided to take up one of those bottles. And, that hooked me. It was the convenience.
I've been absolutely mortified with the number of plastic bottles we've been putting out for recycling pick-up, though, and recent news reports about these bottles have made me feel even worse. We need to change things!

Uggh, I didn't finish my garbage fee story. But people here are griping about how expensive it is. It costs around $17. I'm all for an incinerator too, but we use a landfill. I hate landfills. And we do not have a comprehensive recycling program in place. It's horrible!
I work for the Gazette in Texarkana, Miranda.
Christine, I just got in a little tiff with a guy at work. To be fair, I got reprimanded today as well, but for a lesser part. My boss just asked me if there was another tiff, to just try to stay quiet and don't incense the other person. I'm okay with that.
Shelly, if you're driving through on Wednesday, that will suck, because I will be in Little Rock for a dr. appointment.
