Happy Wednesday!

Well here we are at the middle mark for the week. My day has more of the same stuff slated for me, crazy work days.

The department manager has four of us scheduled to interview a candidate for my old boss' job. In all honesty, I have never seen such a poorly written resume as today's candidate. You would not believe the typos in it. We can not believe that the department manager would even consider this guy for the job. It is painful to read. Between the capitalization and punctuation and mixed tenses it really screams a lack of attention to detail. What is insane is that the job is posted at having a salary range of $110,000 - $125,000. For that much money one would think that they would have had someone review it for obvious mistakes. Your resume is one of the most important documents in your life, and something that you can not take a chance on messing up.

We are anticipating a painful interview..... Sigh. It does not help that I have worked at two of the same companies as the candidate, after him, and I also know that there are some serious lies in the resume... double sigh...

Happy Wednesday!

Good morning! Tess, why would the department manager chose a careless candidate for that job? It doesn't sound like he/she is interested in using your time wisely, does it? Could it be that the manager already has someone else in mind, and this first interview will be so bad that when the "real" candidate is brought before you, by comparison they will look so much better? I smell a game plan.

For today I'm stuck waiting for Sears to deliver the new stove, at long last. Then Frank and Marie will be rolling up some time early evening. We had a really fun night with Piers and Helen (the couple who are getting married in mid September), stayed outside yapping until 10:30, then tossed dishes into the dishwasher and fell into bed.

Shelly, do you have a new job to go to after the end of this week of training your replacement?

Happy Wednesday!

Tess, it sometimes boggles the mind how some people can continue to be promoted. I would be equally disgusted by reading such a resume, especially when outright lies are involved! I simply cannot abide a lie...

Years ago, when I was still working at the law firm, I saw typos and grammatical errors by young attorneys who were theoretically the cream of the crop. They had graduated from the very best universities, and from the very best law schools. These weren't little mistakes made by distractions, or from being under a tight deadline. These were consistent, and fundamental mistakes!

I just wonder how someone can graduate at the top of their class, and successfully pursue a career that depends upon expressing oneself clearly, both orally and in writing, when they don't even seem to know the basics.

Another nail in the coffin of our education system these days, even in the "best" colleges and universities. They've obviously dumbed it all down!

The interview was a nightmare. My co-worker lost her temper, and actually yelled at the man. Very unprofessional on her part, I tried to shut her up, and when that failed, I told her that we had production issues and had to leave.

The man tried to snow ball us so badly, and was very condescending to us. When we would ask him a question that he did not know the answer to, he would go off in another direction, and tell us what we really meant to ask him.

I am far from good at writing, but there are some basic things that one should do, and for goodness sake, we have spell check.

I was the peace keeper, but I managed to get into trouble. I was reprimanded by my boss. I told her that I did not do anything wrong, and that I actually had a hard time keeping a serious face, and not laughing during the interview. I also told her that if I did something wrong, I would tell her, because that is the type of person that I am. I also told her that under no circumstances would I EVER participate in an interview with my co-worker. I said that I can get myself into enough trouble, without others doing it for me.

I am officially starting to look for a new job. I seriously do not make enough money to put up with this. I just got off of the phone with a recruiter for a contracting job. It pays $75.00 an hour, and the initial contract runs through next May, with extensions beyond that. I figure what the heck, if I'm going to put up with stress, I may as well be a highly paid stressed out individual!

So, how was your day?

$75 an hour. Tess how do I go about getting into that field. I think I am in the wrong one. My day has been good, trying to sign up for school and found out I waited too long and two of my classes are closed. Argh..

Shelly, the field is computer programming, databases, specifically Oracle. Basically you to succeed at it you need to be logical and detail oriented. It also involved may hours sitting in front of a computer, and sometimes supressing the urge to throw the computer out of the window.....
