(SoapOperaNetwork.com) -- On the heels of the successful "General Hosptial" spinoff "Night Shift" on SOAPnet, ABC Daytime President Brian Frons toys with the idea of spinning off "One Life to Live."
Just one month after SOAPnet launched the successful "GH" primetime drama "Night Shift," fans have been left wondering if the alphabet network has any plans for spinning off their two remaining daytime dramas, "All My Children" and "One Life to Live." In a recent interview with SON, in which he was asked about the possibility of spinning off one or both soaps, Frons stated that "No, it is something certainly we will take under consideration. However, with "GH" it was sort of a natural kind of thing as Robin and Patrick are always getting into trouble in the middle of the hospital. It was easy enough to imagine them being punished in some way -- it just seemed to be a very natural idea. For the other shows it would need to be something that would make sense, like the McBain murders [One Life to Live]. We'd need to have something that we felt was right for each of the shows and that we had the time and the money."
However, in an interview with TVWeek posted August 12th, Frons seemed to have an about face when asked the same question and said, "I think we do have to look hard at whatOne Life to Live' might be able to do for us in terms of an original spinoff."
While "Night Shift" is the second "GH" spinoff in the soap's 44 year history ("Port Charles," which aired from 1997-2003, was the first), the potential new spinoff would be the first for "OLTL." Premeiring on July 15, 1968, "OLTL" is the network's second longest running daytime drama behind "GH." "OLTL" was created by Agnes Nixon, and will celebrate the airing of their 10,000th episoe on August 17th.

In an update to a story SON first brought you last week about "OLTL" star Kassie DePaiva's son JQ's upcoming appearance on the "AMC" talk show "New Beginnings," we have since learned that Kassie has been consulting with "OLTL's" sister soap regarding the upcoming deaf storyline. Ten-year-old JQ, who was born deaf, received his first Cochlear implant at eighteen months, as well as a second implant at the age of eight. DePaiva has been working with "AMC" on the storyline by relating her personal experiences on raising a deaf child.

well not everyone hates Night Shift. I actually quite enjoy it. But then I enjoy GH too, and i dont really enjoy OLTL or AMC on most days so I wouldnt enjoy a spin-off of it.
Though I think that NS has been more successful then they originally thought it would be..and the best part is that if you dont like it no one HAS to watch it, for me its actually on in a quite inconvenient spot so i cant always watch it
I wouldn't mind another spinoff if some new actors are hired and they make it interesting. Bo and John are always solving one murder after another so it could be interesting.
