Lindsay's Not Going Anywhere

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) -- Catherine Hickland assures fans she still has "Life to Live."

Hickland, who has portrayed Lindsay Rappaport on "One Life to Live" since 1998, told fans at a recent club event that she was excited about working on a regular basis again. Bumped from contract to recurring status in 2005, Hickland's picture has remained in the sudser's opening credits ever since, while other cast members were removed from the opening following downgrades to recurring status, most noticeably Ilene Kristen (Roxy Balsom) and Timothy D. Stickney (RJ Gannon).

Hickland told fans at the event that Head Writer Ron Carlivati has some "exciting stuff" in store for Lindsay in the coming months, however she would not comment on the specifics of the storyline. Rumors have been swirling that the storyline will involve Lindsay will be named Spencer Truman's true murderer.

A 27-year soap veteran, Hickland began her daytime career on "Texas," where she played Dr. Courtney Marshall from 1980-1981. Two years later she joined "Capitol" and portrayed Julie Clegg from 1983-1987 and Jenny Diamond from 1985-1986. In 1987 she temporarily took over the role of Brooke Logan on "The Bold and the Beautiful" from Katherine Kelly Lang while the actress was on maternity leave. In 1993 she joined the cast of "Loving," playing Tess Wilder until the soap's cancellation in 1995. Shortly thereafter she revived the character on "The City." In 1998, she was cast in the role of Lindsay Rappaport Buchanan on "OLTL." Hickland has also guest starred on a number of television programs including "CHiPs," "Law and Order," "Airwolf," and "Knight Rider" which starred her then-husband David Hasselhoff. She and third husband Michael E. Knight (Tad Martin, "All My Children" divorced in 2006 after fourteen years of marriage. Hickland has also appeared on Broadway, has released a music CD, and writes a skin care column for Soap Opera Digest. She also owns her own make-up company named Cat Cosmetics.

In addition to her increased airtime on "OLTL," Hickland will also make another appearance on the Home Shopping Network in September to promote her cosmetics line.
