The first leg of Mike's move is underway and I'm on a break until 3 or so. Phew. The menfolk are in hauling mode and won't need me until it's time to organise the kitchen and make the bed. If the cable compay comes on time to install internet, everything can happen earlier and I'll be done before it's time for dinner. Then again, he's perfectly capable of making his own bed, so if the mood strikes, I'll opt out. We'll see.
Not much is on schedule for us, its the first Saturday since Vinnie got back and I think we are heading to Warwick to do a little shopping...And kae you are right, he most certainly knows how to make the bed.....But you really should stick with doing the kitchen organizing though....men need help with that stuff
Well, it turns out that we're having some much-needed tree work done here today!
The son of the man (now 90 years old, and finally - deservedly - retired) who has delivered our firewood and mulch ever since we first moved into this house, topped some trees for us about seven years ago. I nearly fainted at the price!!!
Anyway, my husband and I had recently been noticing that we have a lot of dead branches too high up for us to do anything about, and several trees needed to have some major limbs taken off. As luck would have it, Mr. Scott's son rang my bell yesterday, and brought his crew back today.
Once again, I nearly fainted at the quote, but he bumped it down for me a bit since we all go so far back...
He's also going to take a stump out for us.
It ought to look much improved once he's finished, but the bank account may never forgive us! If I could climb a tree that high, while wielding a chainsaw, I would have been glad to do it myself. That just doesn't happen to be in my bag of tricks!

Oh yes, Moore, tree trimmers charge a lot these days. We had our four main trees trimmed the first summer we were in this house 5 years ago and it was just under $1000, and that was from the fellow who we had used for years and he gave us a special price for paying him in cash. But it's really important to keep them in good shape for all sorts of reasons.
Did you read about the lady here who was killed while at a garden party and the willow in the garden crashed down on her? Willows are among the worst, but still, not a fun way to go. At our old house, we had our brand new Buick scratched like crazy when old lady Wilcox's birch stand fell over on it. And next door to her, the lady's Audi was crushed to a pancake by HER willow tree in the front yard. It happened right after her four year old came in for lunch; minutes before she was riding her little trike around that tree.
So yes, it's a lot to spend, but a necessary evil. Anyway, I love watching those fellas shoot up the trees with their chain saws and spiked boots. Heh, heh, heh.
I've got another 25 minutes of peace and quiet. I'm waiting for the Snow Birds to fly right over my house again on the way to the air show at the lakefront. They thrill me to pieces.
I think that it's a pool of moderators for now, and that we're all receiving reported posts. Are you having any problems over there? If so, please do report them!

not a lot, just some of the same that I am sure you see a lot...People quoting the post directly above them...it annoys me.
And on one their was a spoiler in the title, Im sure someone complained by now...Several of us complained inside the thread too...Its a good board, I was gonna offer to help mod for it but its only got 5 epi's left
I appreciate your mentioning it. I imagine that its short run is why there wasn't an official moderator assigned, although we've all kind of been put on "alert" with problem posts, etc.
I'll go take a closer look...
