29% - a Yankee Doodle Dandy. Funny considering I'm Canadian. They didn't ask if "about" is pronounced "aboot" though.

The other day I was harassing my son about flattening his vowels, which to my ears is an assault, lol. His music partner grew up in the midwest, says, for example, "nat" instead of "not" as in "knot". And now Mike is doing that too. ARGHH! And he's a linguist! I'm doomed to cringe forever, lol.

This brings up an interesting point... do you guys think you have accents or drawls. I've been told that I have a bit of a southern sound, but I don't really think so. I know that when I lived in Downer's Grove I noticed that a lot of the girls up there, spoke like valley girls. ... You know we need to have a huge conference call and all chat together, or have a voice chat on yahoo.

I dont know, I am waiting to see if I get that New England accent that I hear all the time. Though I spend time with mostly military and they dont sound different. I dont think I have an accent at all. But most people dont

I've only spoken to two of you, Shelly and Cristine, and neither had an accent I could discern over the phone.

My husband used to have a trace of an accent, being from Kansas originally. That's all but disappeared, but he did hang on to some mega-annoying colloquialisms like "fix dinner" instead of "make dinner", but he's all but stopped that now, thank goodness.

I got 50% on the basic test, so I took the more advanced yankee test and got

11% Dixie. Wow! You are a Duke of Yankeedom!

I'm 39% dixie but a lot of my responses showed that they were most common in the great lakes regions.

73% Dixie!

Having grown up in Virginia, and with a father from Georgia, and a mother born in Kentucky, and raised in Tennessee, I guess that would make sense!

Advanced: 57% Dixie.
