We were up pretty early this morning - it's weirdly warm again today, but no complaints about that! So far I've done my cryptic puzzles from the papers and had a cup of coffee, put Chloe's comforter in the wash and swiffered some dust bunnies. Not very exciting, lol.

Nick finally called us yesterday afternoon. It was 6 a.m. Aussie time and he'd just gotten home from working at the club job as a "glassie". He works 9 to 5 at his regular job (the horse racing thing) then goes into the club and works until 4 a.m. Laura also works 2 jobs. One is in the Gucci store in town followed by bartending at the same club as Nick. I don't know how on earth they can survive on so little sleep, but at 24 years old, almost anything is doable for a short time. The two of them rented a beautiful apartment that costs the earth so money-making is top priority.

All my predictions of the two of them coming home before Christmas are kind of out the window as I think now that they'll stick it out until February.

We stopped by to see the little kids yesterday for a brief "hi" and snuggles. They're all adjusting well enough on little sleep, as expected with a newborn in the house. We're still amazed that mom and baby were sent home at 5 hours old.

Our middle son is swamped with school work as he's creating a computer programme that recognises languages, and it's due tomorrow. Then he has a midterm on Tuesday, and night time jazz gigs twice a week that keep him up until the wee hours as well.

Later on today, I'll head out for fresh veggies and my parents will join us for bbq'ed steak and salad, and something decadent for dessert - which I'll buy. None of this slaving away in the kitchen for me today, lol.

Oh, the sugar maple in the back yard has finally turned colour and it's gorgeous. The Norway maples are still green! What a strange autumn this is.

It's the midwifery package. Mom can go home if all went well (it did) and then a midwife visits every day for the first couple of weeks, then spreads out until the baby is so many pounds - anyway the package is about 2 months long. It's all covered by the universal health care insurance.
