An oldie but a goodie

THE ATHEIST AND THE MARINE ( this doesn't get any better)



A United States Marine was attending some college courses between

assignments. He had completed missions in Iraq and Afghanistan .



One of the courses had a professor who was a vowed atheist and a member of

the ACLU. One day the professor shocked the class when he came in. He looked

to the ceiling and flatly stated, 'God, if you are real, then I want you to

knock me off this platform. I'll give you exactly 15 minutes.'



The lecture room fell silent. You could hear a pin drop. Ten minutes went by

and the professor proclaimed, 'Here I am God. I'm still waiting.'



It got down to the last couple of minutes when the Marine got out of his

Chair, went up to the professor, and cold-cocked him; knocking him off the

platform. The professor was out cold.



The Marine went back to his seat and sat there, silently. The other students

were shocked and stunned and sat there looking on in silence.



The professor eventually came to, noticeably shaken, looked at the Marine

and asked, 'What the hell is the matter with you? Why did you do that?'



The Marine calmly replied, 'God was too busy today protecting America 's

soldiers who are protecting your right to say stupid shit and act like an

asshole. So, He sent me.'

Oh I like that! I know the post was just a joke, but I do think that God works through people in mysterious ways

I considered myself an atheist back in High School. I didn't understand how God could let bad things happen. I've read alot of spiritual books since then and I think I have a better understanding of God now.

it actually says in the Bible that God punishes even good people. I think its in Revelations

Oh I don't believe God punishes anybody, I think he wants us to be happy. I don't believe in the vengeful God of the old testament. I believe in a loving and forgiving God. And I totally don't read the Bible! It's been translated and edited. But you know my opinion on that. I guess that's why they say not to discuss politics and religion wink.gif

good call Tina, I usually dont. But we just finished Revelations not too long ago at church. Its a pretty scary book

For some reason Revelations makes me think of Nostradamus, then I think of this doomsday prediction show on History channel.

Well anyway, did you know many cultures have predicted the end of times coming around 2010 or 2012 I can't remember which.

Do you think humans just have some preoccupation with destruction? Or could it be true?

I think people are just paranoid...though it could be true. I dont expect God to give us any warnings though.
