Happy New Year Everybody! Here we go into 2008. We're welcoming the year with a huge snow storm blowing in from the west, so looks like we'll spend the day tucked in at home and not venturing out to any levees or brunch afterwards.
NYE was quiet and we were all sound asleep early but did manage to get up around 2 to turn on the dishwasher and make a little toast to the year before tumbling back into bed. Not much of a party girl these days, lol.
After the last three days and with Grandma wanting us to get up early so that Jolene can open presents we were all in bed by 9. How sad is that. I was just so beat.
Anyways, I hope that you guys all manage to have a great day...
Well, Bethany stayed up later than all of us. We watched Night at the Museum, and then just after midnight I got hungry so Floyd went and got us some snacks lol. I got my New Years kiss from a cut lil slobber bucket and toasted with tea. We're watching the parade now. Go Illini we're so happy that our team made it this year!
We had fun last night, with some comfort food for dinner, and I baked a pecan pie. Our son was really tired, but came over anyway, and stayed until about 10:00 pm. We did play Apples to Apples, and I lost miserably!
Our poor dog had a horrible New Year's Eve! She HATES fires because their popping and crackling remind her of fireworks. Then, after our son had left, our youngest daughter had helped us welcome the New Year and had gone to bed, and after our fire had died down, someone began setting off fireworks in the neighborhood. So, my husband and I sat up with her, and watched some old episodes from a Twilight Zone marathon. By the time the fireworks stopped, and the dog had calmed down, we were both awake again, so read ourselves to sleep. I think that it must have been 2:00 a.m., before I drifted off to my own Twilight Zone...
This morning, our son showed up at about 10:30 a.m., and I had been out of bed for all of five minutes! Anyway, my husband made us all some scrambled eggs, bacon, and toast, and we're just sitting around being lazy. No -- I'm not dressed yet, but may eventually get my lazy self up, and go shower and do something productive.
I just love New Year's Day. It's such a nice down day after all of the other holiday craziness.

well aside from Vinnie being gone for almost half of the year it was a good year. I found a great church, I got that much closer to finishing my AAS and Vinnie reenlisted which secured our future for another 5 years. So all in all it was a good year. This next year hopefully will have less road trips and more staying around the area
