my dad his dog and a prayer request

my uncle gave me a yorkie a few years back, I had to give her to my dad because she barked too much and got my yorkie barking like crazy!

my dad, the Vietnam Vet, Harley rider, grew very attached to Ellie

Now we find out she was probably abused and her kidneys are failing and he has to put her to sleep

He's drunk tonight and crying like a baby

Say a prayer for him, I feel so bad that he loved this dog more than anything
and he's having a hard time with this

thanks!

I sent him Rainbow Bridge:

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I deamt of all my old dogs all night! It was so sad! I had to put them to sleep or something like that.

I think my dad will have to put Ellie to sleep on Friday. Unbelievable how attached he got. He used to always have big hunting dogs and didn't ever bond...

Oh the poor guy. My step brother, Josh had to put down his dog last year shortly after all of the recalls. Duke was his Boxer since he was really young. Well, he was fairly old but in ok condition until he had some of that bad food. My step mom (another Donna) was heartbroken because she got the dog for Josh and Kelley because things were so rough at home when she was with her ex husband (guy was certifiable he actually shot himself in the head in front of all of them and lived ... then later on he tried to say that Donna did it. She told the judge that if she was the one shooting he wouldn't have survived). Anyways it was so sad. So shortly after Donna was feeling really down. Josh had returned to Africa so when my dad was out on the road she was even more alone than ever before because now she didn't have Duke. So my dad got her an adorable little Shih Tzu. I don't normally like them but Bo is too sweet! Anyways recently they received a call from the lady from whom they purchased Bo and she had a little Yorkie who wasn't fitting in well with the other dogs and they needed someone to take her in. OF course Donna said yes, but she's a yappy lil thing and such a bundle of nerves. She doesn't like many people though oddly enough she allowed Bethany to touch her before she ran away lol. She has a problem with going potty in the house because I think the previous owners really didn't care what she did. Her sole purpose was to breed other dogs. It's really sad actually. So Donna unbelievably has the dog in diapers right now. I hope it works because my dad wants to get rid of her and Donna doesn't and well, she's a quiet woman but it's always the quiet one's you have to watch out for. Over the summer, we were at my grandma's lake house and She spotted a snake down by where the children were. So she disappears and come back out with one of Josh's paint ball guns. Two second's later and just one shot the snake was... well... he was gone to say the least. No I don't think she'd ever shoot my dad but he better know that she could if she wanted hehe.

Honestly my dad should really give the woman whatever she wants. She puts up with way too much from him. He's like a helpless child all of the time. I mean gees he can't even pack his own clothes for when he goes on the road. OH man I really didn't intend on this post to be son long. Anyways I'm kind of excited because they are going to let Bo and Mimsy (the yorkie) breed once and we are going to get one of the puppies. I think after that they are going to have her spayed.

yeah losing a pet is so hard. My dog now, Terry, is totally MY baby. so much more well behaved than the kids!

I lost a dog right before I got Terry, and getting the new puppy helped.

But I know that my dad is at the stage that he doesn't want to get attached again.
