Leap Year Day Friday

It's here, that one day every fourth year, February 29. What's on the agenda? It's my usual Friday driving mother around for 3 hours, then getting my car to Mike for errands. He has a huge gig at the El Mocambo and wants new duds. so he's heading off the the big regional mall to spend the gift card we gave him at Christmas.

Shelly, to answer your question from last night, the thing that made me so happy was talking on Skype with Nick. He's well and looks great too. He'll be home in 42 days!! What a long year this has been with him so far away. And so many changes. Gah.

Well, I have a busy day ahead of me as well. Bethany has a doctor's appointment at 9:30 so I have to really finish getting the kids ready like now lol. I was supposed to take Aiden in, but they made his check up with the nurse practitioner instead of Dr. so I rescheduled. I'm never going to her again as long as I can control it because honestly after going back to my doc I realize the sub standard care that is provided by her. I mean wow! He's so great he makes her look bad even though she really isn't horrible, just not as good as he is.

Then I have to jot up to the hubby's work spot and get his check, and cash it, then spend it lol. I get to pick up Bethany's recital outfit. My aunt has seen it since she works at the studio and said it's sooo tiny. In fact they had to go out of their way to get it .so small lol. I just can't wait.

My husband got home last night, and was tired from the travels (had only three hours of sleep the night before because of his early flight), but also very energized. He's taking the day off today, which I think is an excellent idea!

I still haven't cleaned that turtle tank, but it's going to be my first task of the day. It's cold, but sunny here, and I'm longing for spring. I think that we'll be seeing some little buds pop forth very soon...

I spent part of yesterday helping a childhood friend go through her parents' basement (both now deceased) to sort through what ought to be kept, what ought to be tossed, and what ought to be donated. She, a houseguest, and I worked for several hours, and at the end of it all, it looked as though we hadn't even begun! I don't think that her parents had ever thrown anything out...

It's always a melancholy experience to go into that neighborhood; my own childhood house is across the street from my friend's, and it brings back a lot of memories, both wonderful and painful. I always loved that street, though, so there's also a certain peace to returning.

Soooo, Moore, you didn't get to the turtle tank yet, huh? So funny and cheering to know somebody else shirks the unpleasant tasks. We're in good company, non?

I have to get ready to leave in half an hour. No live Y&R for me today, sniff.

Oh, Jess, did you see that Lainey revealed "Eggs in Public" as Calista and Harrison? My local newscast wrongly called that one as Katherine Heigl and her hub a few days ago.

See ya'll later.

Yeah, well... Yeah.

Of course, I really WANTED to do it, but one day I was chained to my computer literally for TEN hours because of "issues" that I needed to deal with on SOC, and then the next day I had that UTI, and didn't want to be dealing with nasty water, and then YESTERDAY, I was helping that friend, and husband was coming home, so............

But, yeah.

(Okay, I HEARD that snort, KaeEll, and I want you to STOP LAUGHING!!!)

Oh Kae I am so happy to hear that you heard from Nick. And I will join you in your countdown. I should make you a countdown thing for your myspace...Thats exciting. As a Navy wife I am really use to countdowns. I was told yesterday that Vinnie may be going on a 6 month deployment starting in July. UGH!!!

Anyways, Moore I bet you are so thrilled to have your husband home. I know it gets lonely being on your own. I have a 3 year old to keep me company and I still get lonely. I tell you if it wasn't for the church I found last spring I would probably have lost my mind with my husband gone so often. Moore we may be close to your neck of the woods in the next month or so. My husband is looking into getting that laser surgery on his eyes and apparently in the Navy it is done down at Bethesda. I am excited because I would love to go back down near Fort Meade and see people that I don't get to see often.

I am at work but our GM is out for the day so I am sitting on the hotel computer checking on things. I am a little bored. We are about sold out for tonight but that doesn't make our shift busy, it makes the next shift busy....so we are still bored.

Jess I hope your doctors appointments go okay. I have an appointment with an ENT on Monday, I am certain something is wrong with my nose. I can never breathe out of it well and I get sinus infections like every month. My throat currently hurts because of the bad drainage that I have..

Oh yeah Tess, it has been great to see you here a couple times this week. You are truly missed. Now if we could get the other Tess to pop in and say hello

I bought shoes!!

I've never been a shoe hound, I always pick the comfy, durable ones.

But my neighbor, my new friend, thinks they NEED to be pretty. So I got 3 pretty pairs, biggrin.gifclearance rack of course

Also got Gabi 8 Sweaters for next Winter for $31 at Macy's!!

I never shopped clearance before, and now I just LOVE it! I will NEVER pay retail again!!!smile.gif

I did some Spring Cleaning yesterday, vacuumed out my filthy van! Blech. Also swept out the garage.

Amazing I'm doing so well without a man in my life. I think I needed this break.

He is wanting to change now. Can you all believe it! He actually thinks it was a GOOD idea I kicked him out!! But I can't get my hopes up to high, I've been slammed into the pavement before.weirdface.gif

Glad to hear you got some hubby time Moore. I don't know what I'd think of not having the hubby around. I think at first I'd kinda be relieved to have a little less cleaning to do, but then I'd really miss him and the messes too. Of course with summer coming I wouldn't have time to miss him lol. Bethany gets to start tee-ball this year, and Cody has baseball of course.

Kae it sounds like you'll get progressively more chipper as those days count down. My mom almost freaked when I told her Floyd and I have been nonchalantly toying with the idea of moving to Japan. With gas getting like it is it's becoming more of a possibility. I am going to take Japanese this summer, and who knows maybe we'll move there and I can teach English while he works as bilingual customer support for motoko since they're affiliated with ATT.

Tess, it's great to see ya! I hope all is well in your neck of the woods.

Shelly good luck on the work stuff sounds like a long shift is looiming.

OH Tina if you love clearance and want some pretty shoes. Acquaint yourself with Bakers (they could also go by Barkers or S. A Barkers) IF you don't mind paying 7.00 per year go for the frequent shoppers card. You can get some awesome discounts on top of their sales. Last year I won the 500.00 from them. Plus I got the cutest boots for only 5.00 marked down from ..... 95.00 can you believ that? I know it's crazy. I also got the cutest wedges for like 3.00. A terrific pair of pumps with little silver strappy things. I went to Pay less this year for my shoes though because I was feeling bummy lol. They have good prices too though. I have s hort and kinda wide feet, so sometimes I prefer a wide width depending on the shoe and the maker. I love American Eagle shoes and they're sold at Payless now so yippee lol.

Anyways the doctor's appointment went well. Bethany has a bit of fluid behind her ear from her allergies. The doctor really isn't concerned, but he prescribed chewablel claritin for us to give her if we feel like she needs it. It was mainly to appease the school lol. She is going to get a formal hearing test done on the 16th because he's convinced that the only reason she failed was they gave her a standard hearing test and that just doesn't work well wiht younger kids. He also rechecked her iron because they made a stink about her iron being low (Illinois can be a real pain lol) and he's pretty convinced that because last time she had her iron checked it was through a finger prick, and apparently they all to often give false readings and usually if you have a low reading on it it's wrong. So he did a regular blood test on her and he was right she's just fine.

We were pleasantly surprised to see that Floyd's raise was on this check and somewhere along the line (not sure where lol) he'd worked some over time as well. It's a darn good thing because we have 2 recital outfits to buy this week and that glorious van payment. We'll actually have it all paid off with this big payment so I am not complaining.

We spent some time with mom today. Lol of course we went to Arby's and they goofed up my order. I wanted to get a Ruben (my splurge for the week lol) wrap but with turkey instead of the beef. Well the girl got all curmudgened and put in just a regular roast turkey wrap. It was good, but it also had onions which tend to give lil man gas if he nurses (which he's doing less of lately thank God). So of course I politely called and complained lol and the manager was nice enough to put me down on the books .. what can I say I want my darn ruben lol. I blame Culvers the kid there recommended I try it and ever since then I'm a Ruben girl lol. Anyways my mom was so cute. She made a sack lunch for Floyd because he never takes anything. She even gave him an oatmeal treat.

Oh and if you guys haven't had the strawberry slush from Sonic, make it a point to at least get it once (unless your allergic then please spare yourself lol cuz they're made with real strawberries). We ran down there on his lunch break and got special little drinks because every day from 2 to 4 they have half off most of their drinks and we were parched lol.

So yeah now I'm finally home chilling with the lil ones. I think I'll make spaghetti for supper. For some reason that just sounds really good lol.

Nope no pain nothing is really wrong with her. She just has a little fluid I guess. Doctor said it's nothing at all to worry about. I get fluid behind my ears frequently too, and it really doesn't bother me. My ears just pop alot. I seriosly freaked the first time I had them pop so much in one day I ran to the er. I'm such a spazz. At least she won't have to be embarassed by a silly moment' like that.

You know now that I think about it I bet they are a southern thing. Hmmm I bet they would be a big hit up North. If I had the money lol. Do they still have any Hardees up there. I know that before we moved a bunch were closing. I love Hardee's breakfast lol.

Lol, we had a Hardees until about oh gees I think about 10 years ago maybe a little less when the owner sold all of his franchise out and switched to Culvers. It was a big mistake because he made bank with the older people who loved Hrdees breakfast and prices and culvers is so much more expensive and they had no breakfast. So he went belly up reather soon. He was kicking himself big time until the day that Walgreens decided to build in town. He was lucky enough to sell the property to them and made some good money.

I'd still rather have the Hardees though lol.
