Wednesday the 12th

Oh, we're three days away from the Ides of March! I can't ever remember such a snowy mid month as this one. Also, it's weird having so much snow when it's still light outside at 7:30 p.m.

Yesterday, I learned that toilets are sold in three parts, each one priced separately, just in case you ever need that bit of information, lol. Also news to me is that you can buy keys with cute pictures on them. I had a duplicate made with puppy faces on it. Home Depot is a world unto itself!

So what's up today? Soaps, anyone? I'll be watching Y&R and try a bit of OLTL. I actually miss Page and her son story line. Miss HH Hugh, too. Those days when the soap was terrible, and we complained so much, at least it had us talking about it. Now, nada. What does that say???

Well hello Kae, it seems that the board is deserted today. I was off at work and just got home. Still have a short paper to write for class tonight. Had an okay day at work. I kind of like doing the executive housekeeping aspect of my job because it helps insure that the problems I have had people tell me that happened to them doesn't happen at our hotel. If you check in to our hotel the rooms are clean. The sheets are fresh. And I know this because we check the rooms everyday.

Anyways, I agree about the soaps. I really don't think that there is one soap that each and every one of us watches. I think that we all watch a soap, just not the same as others. It is so sad that the HHHugh days were more watchable then what we have now. And we actually use to do the LP like everyday, now we never do. I guess its a good thing that this board went personal or we wouldn't ever post.

And I love Home Depot. Keep meaning to get a key made of our church and forget. What stinks is since we live in Navy housing our house keys have "Do not duplicate" ingraved on them. So we cant have cute ones. Would be cool if they made car keys that way. I would totally get some.

I am watching GH, I think that besides Y&R it really is the best show going these days.

It's a GORGEOUS spring day here, and I almost feel guilty for mentioning it to those of you who've had so much wretched snow.

Almost...!!!

I slept badly last night, woke up with a mildly upset stomach this morning (probably related to the salad bar salad that was part of last night's dinner), then freaked out midmorning when I glanced in the powder room mirror, and noticed that my right eye was bright red! The prevailing theory is that it was the result of a burst capillary, but it looked really scary. Because I was due for a blood test anyway, I decided not to wait until late afternoon, but jumped in the car at lunchtime.

I've calmed down now, but because I'm on coumadin (for the rest of my life, I guess), I tend to become concerned when strange blood-related things occur. Because I've never before had my eye appear as though it were bleeding, my first thought was "internal hemorrhage"...

Now that I'm home again, I'm enjoying the beautiful day, and am praying that it stays this way indefinitely!

Talk about a crazy day!!! Floyd tried getting on line this morning and the monitor wouldn't work. Then my mom brought this 13 inch ibm monitor that wouldn't even reach and I have no clue if it would have worked anyways. So we got ahold of the guy we sold the old computer too since I learned he had ony been using it as a one hundred dollar paper weight and bought the whole thing back from him. We'll be getting a nice monitor with our stimulus check and setting up the cpu in the bedroom for Cody. That way we can keep track of him when he's on the computer. I am not about to put one in his room. He's way too young, and I'm way too paranoid.

Then we had pre-school screening for Bethany. I'm so proud of her. Her motor skills were above average. Which I fully accredit to her dancing and tumbling lessons. Her language level was that of a 5 year old. On top of it all, she got accepted to the school's prep program which is like an advanced pre-k. AAHHHH I'm so happy!!! SO proud! So excited!!!

There are only 3 spots available right now and she got the first. The teacher lady came up to us as we waited and told me she really though Beth would be a great candidate for dual enrollment, and that she had been watching the kids in the gym and really wanted her in her class. I am so ecstatic that I'm acting a little Cruise (hehe).

On top of it all it's beautiful out. It helps kick me outta my funk. Now I just have to talk Bethany into letting me take her to dance class. Lol she only wants her daddy to take her (boo). Oh well, it's great that she has a daddy who doesn't mind taking her.

Weird! I can't access this board using Firefox now. Lucky I had it in my bookmarks and fired up old Safari and it works just fine. Any ideas why that happened? Bran?

Moore, is you eye okay now? Jess, sorry about the crazy morning. Shelly, Y&R is good today. Adam is really bugging me.

My contractor now says he's going to bail if my husband insist upon nixing some of the work he's propsed. We already ordered the granite and put a deposit on it! So frustrated I could scream. I can't see how this can get done before Nick comes home in in 31 days. Damn!!

Okay, so I am going to talk one of you guys into helping me remember to take my pills in the morning. I have the hardest time remembering until its too late in the day. Now if I take them I will be up all night long, not something I would look forward too. Any ideas?

Moore I sure hope you and your eye feel and look better soon. I am jealous about your sun, we woke up with rain and the sun just barely decided to join us. Im told that tomorrow will be the same.

Jess congrats on Beth getting into the pre-K program. I am off to school, will talk to you guys later.

KaeEll, I despise contractors! I swear that you just can't trust any of them... One of the few that I've been happy with was the company that did our hall bathroom, and I'd have them do other stuff here, but bathrooms are their specialty.

We were all geared up several years ago to completely redo our kitchen. We planned to bump out one wall, and expand it by a little bit, and also add a second family room on the back of the house with a few steps down from the kitchen.

Well, the TWIT "designer" that I was working with was totally useless, and she made me so paranoid that I cancelled the whole project. We had paid thousands of dollars towards it already, and they'd gone so far as to have an architect draw the plans. But, this idiot woman kept forgetting our changes, wouldn't tell me the price of anything -- like the cost of the lighting that I'd asked for -- so I couldn't figure out how to hold costs down. So, I tried to guess. Everytime I would eliminate something, the price would go UP!!! Whenever I would ask how much certain fixtures were, or similar questions, she would answer, "We don't share that information with our customers."

????????????????????????

Helloooo...???!!!???

I'M PAYING YOUR FREAKING BILLS! THEREFORE, I'M PAYING YOUR FREAKING SALARY!!!

In desperation, I finally asked her to forget the second family room, and just give me an estimate for the kitchen; we would do it in two stages. When she gave me the kitchen estimate, I did the math, and figured out that the entire second family room would have been only $19,000. That, of course, didn't sound even remotely right since it was fairly large, and was going to have a fireplace, and lots of windows, etc., etc. When, I asked the idiot about this, she said, "Hmmm. You know, I did think that was slightly odd..."

FIRED THEM!

I was so upset that I couldn't even THINK about my kitchen project for a couple of years after that. I mean, we were almost ready to schedule construction! Finally, everyone convinced me to begin again, so I scheduled another contractor/architect to come by, and he STOOD ME UP!

I'm not sure that this project is meant to be...

KaeEll and Shelly, my eye still looks absolutely hideous, but it doesn't hurt. From the iris all the way over to the outside edge is bright red, and it feels a bit scratchy, but that's about all. Supposedly, this will be reabsorbed, and will just end up looking like a bruise on my eyeball.

Lovely.

Ouch Moore I'm sorry to hear that. I had that feeling a couple weeks back. I found some eye drops at wal mart that helped a lot. Unbelievable they were homeopathic. Of course I would've taken anything considering it was half past midnight and I was so uncomfortable.

Moore, thanks for the cheery note on contractors, lol. I know exactly what you are complaining about. To add to THAT particular problem, my husband is having all sorts of doubts about spending money on this house considering that we dislike the neighbourhood so much, and yet he's fully aware of the value of real estate around here. We had some heated words last night over the darn bathroom and I just can't do this!

Oh, and it's freezing rain here today.

You know, KaeEll, any kind of construction project is enormously stressful, in my opinion, even when it goes well. I'm sorry about your little tiff with your husband last night, but these things are almost GUARANTEED where household improvements are concerned.

Aside from the fact that your peaceful territory is being invaded by strangers, and your house is torn apart, this inconvenience is also costing you an arm and a leg! Oh, goody...

I'll tell you something -- one of SOC's moderators LITERALLY had her house blown up a little over a year ago. She and her husband own a nice, large piece of land, and they wanted to reposition the new house rather than just add onto what already existed. When she was emailing descriptions and pictures of the progress, I swear that I wanted to go curl up in fetal position in the back of my closet, and suck my thumb for awhile! Too scary for me... I was totally impressed by how brave they were to do this. I never would have survived the experience.

In order to keep the peace around here, this morning I handed over to hub the entire project other than the scheduling, which I'll do myself IF the contractor agrees to various (dumb) decisions hub has made regarding the project. Yes, it IS stressful! Very!!

I found a fun little stress-relief game on the internet called Hangaroo. Whenever I feel my blood pressure soar, I head right into it for a few minutes. Try it out! I play the version that has a score keeping chart on the top left. My aim is to make a full 10 games in less than 10 minutes.

That's cool. The Internet is good for things like that. My stress buster is the lolcats that I've shared on numerous occasions. Somehow they kinda brighten my day

Cool game, KaeEll. I'm going to save it to my favorite places.

I've been into playing online games too, lately, to distract myself. I love puzzles, and I found classic solitaire too.

There are several that I like, but here's a current favorite:

Moore, that stamp game is FUN! But I couldn't turn off the sound. It ran out when I was on the phone with the granite company lady who she recognised the noise, asked me if I was playing the treasure hunt Yahoo game, (Face went red, lol.)

These darn things can be addictive!!

KaeEll, I choked on my wine! TOO FUNNY...!!!

When you get up to the 4th level, watch out because it's very sneaky; there are lots of distractions, and not much time to complete the puzzle.

This is one that I may break down and buy. And, by the way, I rather LIKE the k-ching sound it makes!

Here's another one, KaeEll.

I haven't played it in awhile, but I THINK that it used to be untimed. I've never completely beaten it, but I've gotten it down to two remaining squares MANY times, and down to just one remaining square about three or four times.

It's fun!

games.aol.com/game/astrological-blockbreaker/

(Edited because I forgot to provide the freakin' link! By the way, there isn't anything astrological about this except for the background you choose!)

PS -- I revisted the site, and it's still untimed, which is nice. There's a clock going, but it's not a deadline clock. It's just showing you how long it's taking you to solve the puzzle. Whew...
