Hey guys. Whats new this weekend. Anyone do anything exciting? Nothing to grande here. On our way to church and then will probably spend the afternoon getting ready for the week. The sun came out yesterday and hopefully will stay out for awhile.
Another Sunday already! I'm just having my coffee - slept in until 10 today.
Friday we bought that bbq finally, a Perfect Flame from Lowes, their generic brand made by Broil King. It's a stainless number with the handle in front. That was a feature I didn't want, but alas, they're almost all like that now. It's a natural gas one so now I'm looking for a heating contractor to hook it up to the gas line. Sigh.
Then we went to the pub Mike plays in on Friday nights, listened to him for a while and went down the street to have dinner with friends.
Yesterday was shopping for ourselves and parents, dinner, then watched a really good documentary on Canadian diamond mining in the Northwest Territories.
Nick finally sent us his itinerary for travelling home. His flight arrives at 14:40 Friday April 11, in 5 days. He has a great flight, only 20 and a half hours, one stop to refuel. I didn't have the heart to tell him his bathroom will be ripped up when he gets here.
Argh!! The people across the street from us have been adding a second floor on their house since August. They moved out during the construction and the street, aside from the construction noises and trucks, etc., has been blissfully peaceful. They're back with their hideous whelps hollering and screeching up and down the road. They're sort of like a plague of locust. *shudder*
Oh, Shelly -- we'll be thinking about you! I'm going to hold out all positive hopes that everything will go quickly, and will do what it's supposed to do for your ongoing problem.
KaeEll, I envy you your new BBQ! We need one, but haven't gotten quite that far with our spring tasks yet.
It's a divinely rainy, cozy day here. We began our Sunday morning with our usual ritual of watching CBS Sunday Morning, a show that always teaches us a lot, and has a lot of fun stuff thrown in too. Then, Arizona-daughter called, and is very excited about moving into her new apartment tomorrow; she's having it painted today. We gabbed about Ayva (her little four-year-old charge), and a bunch of other stuff, and before I knew it, an hour had gone by!
She had originally called to tell me about a recipe that she'd just seen on Emeril. It's a variation on those Eggs Benedict we all keep talking about, but includes the tasso that I love in the hollandaise (remember that spicy pork loin that I marinated for days, and smoked last fall???), and is sprinkled with chopped scallions. There's one part that many people wouldn't appreciate (in fact, might actually make you gag at the thought, but is right up my alley), but my daughter knew that I would. This version begins with the usual English muffin, then bacon is substituted for Canadian bacon (or prosciutto, in our case), the poached egg is added, and THEN the egg is topped with fried oysters!!! Pour on the hollandaise with tasso, and sprinkle with the scallions. YUM for me, and YUCK for my husband (the oyster part).
Our son is coming over tonight for dinner, and to continue with our Sunday night routine of watching the special HBO series on John Adams, which has been wonderful. I think that I'm going to do some comfort food tonight because of the weather: good old southern fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and I haven't decided on the veggie yet. Our son loves spicy food so I'm going to make stuffed jalapeno appetizers (fresh jalapenos stuffed with cream cheese, sprinkled with crumbled pancetta, and baked for about ten minutes).
Otherwise, I'll probably have a quiet day, and may try to squeeze in a little reading, or do a little needlepoint. I'm still recovering from preparing for, and hanging that doll exhibit last week...

OHHHHH guys!!!! Is it friday yet. I know it's Monday but I'm posting on teh Sunday thread but hey after the day I've had I'm lucky I even found the computer. Phoenix decided she didn't want me today. She also didn't want to eat, sleep, chill out on the floor, sit in a swing, she just wanted to cry ... and cry ... and cry some more. At first I was quite worried. She only took her juice and didn't want her formula. I thought she was gassy, but even after passing numerous gasses she still cried. So I called her mother woried that there was something wrong that I couldn't see.
Well, mommy showed up and as soon as she picked her up the crying stopped. Of courese mommy had to go back to work and I figured all was well now that she got her mommy time. Ehhh not so much about an hour or so later it started again and lasted for a good 3 hours at least (lost track of time) until her mommy showed up. By that time Aiden was upset because he barely got any attention, Bethany was at her wts end trying to do anything she could to put a smile on Phoenix's face and I am ready for a stiff drink. I'm not usually a drinker ... but this calls for a change in things. I hope tomorrow is better, and really hope this isn't a trend, because honestly if she's going to be like this everyday I can't keep watching her. I know it's horrible, but the kids literally got neglected today and they were walking on egg shells worried that something they would do would upset her even more.
So just pray for me ok pray for her. I love the little girl and would hate to stop watching her.
